I Made A Kitchen Island, with Butcher Block Top

In this video I make a kitchen island unit with drawers, solid oak end grain butcher block top and oak shelf, and I’ll share with you my method for getting a really durable and hardwearing paint finish on MDF which is resistant to cleaning, scratches etc.

  2. Thank you for this video, Keith! I'm wanting to build a media cabinet in birch plywood with a solid birch top and this was a gold mine of information.

I'm planning on gluing and screwing the carcass together with 12mm plywood, then laminating the outsides with 6mm plywood, making it 18mm total and hiding the screws. Hope it's a good idea, haha!

Anyway, this looked really good with that "bespoak" top πŸ˜ƒ

  3. Really nice piece. One thought, rather than threaded inserts you can just tap a thread in the wood itself. Works surprisingly well and I'd say easier to do. I watched a video recently testing the strength of this and it came out better than using the inserts.

  4. 😁 Nice job once again Keith. I'm sure that will sell in no time at all. Just a quick question…. do you tend to brand the items you sell like this ?. Just curious πŸ€”. Thanks for the video mate πŸ˜πŸ‘

  5. That's great looking unit Keith, I hope it generates the interest (and value) that it deserves, the only issue may be the weight dictating that it's for collection only, but it's certainly worth travelling for !

As always it's great that you include the face palm / Doh moments as it keeps it real and reminds us that we all make mistakes and that there aren't that many that can't be fixed with a little ingenuity and extra effort !

  6. Really nice end product! I have one question, why are the back side of the front panels of the drawers unpainted? I think that really ruines the final productπŸ™ƒ or have you painted it after you mount the handles on camera

  7. Excellent work Keith, stunning piece of craftsmanship again
BTW I think you mentioned in one of your older vids "Hew and Awe" table saw recon. I could be wrong but as R&B is one of my main channels I think it may be (or Peter Millard) anyway, that guy is on another level thanks for the tip (or Peter 🀣🀣)
