  1. This has been such an awesome series to watch! I wanted to let you know I have been playing this game for a long time and the best way to make money (no spoilers & no cheesing) is to “ship hunt”, find broken down ships and fix them up enough to fly them to the space station and sell them. You can buy a bunch of map scans from the space station cartographer then land on a planet and scan for a crashed ship with the click of a button. Fly to the ship, claim it, sell it and repeat. You’ll have millions of units in no time! It’s one of the “proper” ways to grind for cash in the game without exploiting a bug or something like that 😄👍🏻good luck, see you in the stars

  2. Best way to get ships is the way i mentioned on another video, go to a station and get emergency map charts. It's a great way to get units, nanites and ships. Don't know why twitch chat hasn't mention that shop yet.You can make S class ships with the method I mentioned. Buying ships is a waste of money but sometimes you can fine a nice one if you want a ship right away but i personally don't do it, repairing ships is only good if you fix launch and pulse only to sell it it will take a long time to fix one up to make it worth keeping.

  3. I just found a Pillar Planet through a Portal Jump yesterday.
    But there was a problem.
There were no bases, no base building functions, no broken tech modules, no elements depots, no map, no temperature and NO SHIP!
I was absolutely stuck like a sitting duck. I stuck it out for about 30-45min before I decided to restart and see if at least my ship would appear.
Upon restart, the pillar planet was replaced by a Bubble Planet and my ship was there. I got out of there sooooo freaking fast. I forgot to check if I could build a base or see if ports populated.

When I got outer-space, I discovered there was also no space station.

I warped out of there so fast.
Bye Bye, was never coming back anyway. 😅

  4. You passed up on a couple of small moons. Check them out. Typically not much going on but the low gravity is fun to explore with. You float and glide for a long time on them. You're literally just scratching the surface of this glorious game… just have fun with the journey

  5. You really need to add suit slots and upgrade your exosuit (I think you currently have only 3 “lives” when walking around on a planet and life support upgrades will add more), multitool weapons and scanner, and ship weapons and shields. There are more kinds of weapons than you can fit, so choose a couple and upgrade them.

You discovered your solar/star system, not the galaxy. You are in the starting galaxy, Euclid. I think there are 256 galaxies; I hope someone will correct me if this is wrong.

Congrats on your freighter! Now you can start adding frigates when you can afford them. You need a LOT of money and nanites. (You have a planet with ancient bones in the second star system; mining a lot of those will give you credits. Finding and scrapping ships will give you more but is more effort. Upgrade modules cost nanites.) There are multiple kinds of frigates. You can put together expeditions with one or more frigates and send them out. They can bring back credits and resources, though if the expedition has the wrong mix of ship types or is too weak, they can be damaged or destroyed. There’s a whole thing about frigates and their use, it’s useful to watch a guide video on it. The reason you can board your frigates is so you can repair them if they need it after they return from an expedition damaged.

  6. If you want to find starships fast and for free. Start a fight in space. After beating the sentinels activate the item they give you. It will lead you to cool ships. Even better than the one you wanted. 45:43

  7. The backside of 3rd person flying is that you are unable to see the radar. It shows the planets. Also if you tab esc and select Discoveries you can see all planets in the system. Anomalous planets are great to complete the milestone where you need to discover the complete fauna of a planet, because anomalous planets have only one lifeform. A easy way to earn cash while playing is to get some scanner upgrades, some of them raise the amount of money you get for scanning over 6000%. So a scan can bring you up to 200.000 credits. Understand the different classes of ships, like Transporter, Fighter, etc.

If you build a fleet command room in your freighter you can send recruited frigates on missions. You will get money and resources from them.

  8. I'm surprised nobody told you yet that when you press R or T, as the tooltip says, to increase or decrease the radius of your mining, you can get more resources out of each deposit, because the way mining works is that each "tick" of the beam removes a fixed amount of resources, so the smaller your sphere, the less material gets destroyed per "tick", the more you can mine before you run out.

  9. Tip that I didn't figure out right away but if you buy certain planetary charts from the cartographer on space stations, sometimes you can find crashed ships, fix them just enough to fly then take them to the station, scrap them and it's a good way to make money. You can also install the economy scanner in your ship and scan for trade surges and sell stuff for profit.

  10. If you want much more money, go dig some Ancient Bones and sell them, its the first best way to get money, after that there are better ways for getting money but Ancient Bones are best in the beggining

  11. In order to make easy money, look for scanner S class upgrades at the multitool tech seller on every space station, install them next to your scanner slots (max 3 upgrades) and enjoy scanning everything on every planet you land. There are more advanced ways to make big money but they are more mid to late game things, upgrade scanner and sell ships is easier for now. Anyway I played this game since the release and watching your first experience playing it is very entertaining, your excitment about everything you discover is a joy to watch 🙂

  12. I know I’m a bit late, but Jon, you definitely should’ve waited until your third freighter battle to claim a free freighter because then, you’re guaranteed a capital freighter, which are much bigger and would much more expensive.

  13. Most people give up during the tutorial because they think that’s the whole game. Most people think the tetorial is done once you reach the anomaly but it’s really once you get your first freighter so now you are free to really enjoy the game for everything it has on your own. And there is still so much to come.

  14. If you wanna buy ships just letting you know that there are different types of ships (besides their letter class), there are:
    – Haulers (better shield, low mobility & damage, regular warping distance, high starting inventory capacity)
    – Fighters (High damage & mobility, low shields, regular warping distance & inventory capacity)
    – Explorers (High warping distance & mobility, regular inventory capacity and shields, somewhat low damage)
    – Shuttle (overall average in all stats, usually the cheapest ones)
-Exotic ships (Almost always S-Class, don't quite remember their stats but pretty sure they're overall good at everything, higher chances to find one in 3-star economy systems)
    – Solar Ships (mostly found in Outlaw Systems, they have a unique passive that slowly recharges the fuel just by flying around)
    – Living Ships (these are first unlocked by a mission that starts when you buy a Void Egg at the anomaly forn Quicksilver, good at everything but great damage)
    – Sentinel Ships (you'll find these in dissonant planets, once you find an Echo-locator, use it, that will start the mission to recover the ship)

  15. Two moneymaking tips: stock up on ancient bones and sell them. They'll show up when you scan planets in space. Plus try to get a carrier ai fragment. They'll send you to sentinel ship you can fix and sell for a huge payday. Ai carrier fragments are sometimes given out as mission rewards at the anomaly and space stations

  16. Little tip for finding crashed ships: As other comments have already pointed out, you can get planetary charts for emergency signals from the space station cartographer, but there is another way if you don’t want to bother with the charts all the time.
Go to the anomaly and unlock the minotaur radar array. Install that into your mech, enter the mech, pull up the quick menu and select the scanner. You now get to choose between several things to scan for, one of which should be something like „downed starship“ or „distress signal“. That’ll lead you to a crashed ship or a crashed freighter (if it’s the latter, just wait for the scanner to recharge and try again).

  17. I have very sad news for you – you will not be able to get to another Galaxy because you are too far from the center. Your current coordinates are 7 hundred thousand light years away. To reach the center of the galaxy, you will either have to use spatial portals or black holes. But you know, instead of traveling through the galaxies, it's better to rebuild a base, run around beautiful planets, etc.

  18. Jon, be sure to buy a S-class scanner upgrade from spacestation…cuz whenever u scan…u get huge amounts of money…. Like 300k from a single animal…. And please do ship hunting- (u can buy distress signal maps from cartographer in any spacestation)…

  19. i wonder no one is telling him to go search for some dinosaur bones… but i have not played NMS in a long time due to PC being a potato 🙁 (me very sad) … but when i could play … a few bones netted me a few million… certainly boosting my early game quite a bit… is this still the case or were the bones price nerfed?
