I Couldn’t Take My VR Headset Off For 24 Hours

With the release of the Apple Vision Pro’s, a debate has started about VR headsets and being able to wear them 24 hours a day. Many state that the Meta Quest 3 is the same headset only cheaper. In this video, I put both these statements to the test and live my day to day life wearing a VR headset for 24 hours.

  1. A friend of mine is on vrchat all the time- Like literally all the time, they sleep in the headset every night and it isn't even the newest oculus. Watching this I am just befuddled at how the heck they can manage to pull that off-

  2. Virtual reality has been around since the 90's. It's not new by any means and apple is just leaching off of the success of Meta. The quest 3 could be the best AR headset if that's what it was made for, but it was made for virtual reality; not augmented. The vision pro was made ONLY for augmented reality and has no ability to play any games. The quest 3 is the better headset overall, but if you're only looking for AR, I guess the vision pro is for you.

  3. …It occurs to me that my "success" with the headset for long periods is more a quirk of not having good depth perception, and already being used to having weird and wonky vision. I have learend just from experiencing what it's like for you with normal, working vision.

For me why it'd be hard to 24/7 goggles is warmth- a unless you keep a fan on yourself, a heated mask (as it is warm when running) on your face (which is one of your body's two heatsinks other than your feet) means you'll start to roast after a while. In winter I'll start playing or watching media with the headset on with a hoodie or blanket, and need to rip that layer off very quickly.

Then there's pets, who are jerks, and refuse to let you do anything without some great inconvenience and somehow forcing me into a situation where I MUST take off the headset to resolve their problem.

The charging thing is fine with a battery pack, especially if you have more than one. Just have a USB C Male to Female adapter, get magnetic usb C connectors, and then you can easily hotswap between packs. Charging while sitting while watching a movie or something stationary is also easy.

I expect by the time we've really shrunk processing power into smaller form factors (or improved wireless streaming), we'll have made improvements in battery life that will have one run for 11hrs on a single charge.

My other biggest takeaway from watching this is you should get a facemask for sleeping, it seems to help.

  4. I know that ppl would be able to tell real quick even if the kid did lie, but what happened to lying about your age online? Back in my days, if we were on the internet, we were told to lie about everything, especially your age and name. It was a way to keep our privacy and be safe. I need kids to understand that we do NOT put personal info online.

  5. Nice if you get the Apple VR try the same challenge we want a comparison and btw continue with the good work. I know that most of your subs are from shorts but it shouldn't discourage you from making normal videos, you are doing great. ^_^

  6. I've actually been teaching myself to make scrambled eggs recently. It's not idiot proof, I'm not gonna lie. My ADHD brain isn't always great at remembering every mix-in and you have to time it right and adjust the heat to make sure it doesn't overcook. So I feel this challenge. 😂
