  1. Funny story. I spent a lot on a top of the line Matrox graphics card. It was the best you could get at the time, in 1997.
I was showing it off to my girlfriend and she told me her friend had a much better card. I told her there was no way because I had researched the cards available and this was about the best you could get.
She decided to show me and took me to her friends apartment. He then proceeded to show me the new, at the time, 3DFX graphics card he purchased and what games looked like on it…
I think you can guess how I felt, lol.

  2. this would be a great card for my "retro" haswell system…. i'm knowing matrox since the good old 90's, with the Millennium I&II 🙂

  3. Man, I didn't know Matrox was known for making stable, reliable hardware and software. My only experience with their products is a TripleHead2Go on a version of MacOS that its software was never updated for. I'm not a Mac user; I hate it. Just gotta throw that in there. Same goes for Windows. But maybe I should be impressed that an outdated driver even worked at all on an updated system. Half the problem is Apple's crap OS that "just works (but only with Apple products)". You've corrected my opinion of Matrox. Though the TripleHead2Go has bad reviews on Amazon, so it's not just me having a bad experience with a several hundred dollar piece of equipment.

  4. i have an rtx3060 and it still doesnt run wolfenstein enemy terrotory smoothly or correct lighting (some inside spawn points players are completely black), because of the shader simulated fixed pipeline opengl.

  5. I REALLY didn't expect any of these games to be "playable" on the new Matrox cards. They are targeted at a very specific market and gaming is very far from what they were built to handle. Thank you for this video! This was a LOT of fun!

  6. We had a family pc back in the day with a matrix card and a Pentium 2 233mhz. It ran alot great until voodoo hit. I still have it laying around somewhere.
