‘Hypocrisy is thy name, Matt’: Liberal Senator clashes with minister over govt’s ‘lies’

Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes has clashed with Assistant Defence Minister Matt Thistlethwaite, asking “how many lies” the Albanese government can tell.

Dutton is being criticised for delaying the release of his nuclear energy policy.

The Coalition was set to unveil the full details of its nuclear plans before the May budget.

“Hypocrisy is thy name, Matt,” Ms Hughes told Sky News Australia.

“You went to an election with a pledge for $275 to come off power bills – over 100 times committed to by now Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

“He promised, along with many of your Cabinet colleagues, that there would be no changes to the stage three tax cuts.

“How many lies can this Labor government tell?

“We are not the government, Matt; you are.”

  1. We all want Australian manufacturing, we do quality and we do it well.

Never once has anyone said “we need Australian made solar panels”!! However we have companies the continent over, begging for Australia to restart textile manufacturing, as the Chinese product doesn’t have the same quality Australian textiles were known for.

As one of the largest exporters of wool and cotton, and an industry sector that Australia has much experience in… wouldn’t it be wiser to reignite Australia’s textile industry first, then trying to conquer new grounds at considerable expense with solar panels?

It seems like the Australian solar panel gig is all tied into Labor’s renewable energy lie?

  3. Sending billions overseas to Ukraine and various other countries to fund their conflicts and 50 billion increase in defence budget here, to help keep Australians safe, mean while we're here living on the edge of poverty and recession, how about our government try pulling their heads out of their over entitled arses and start putting a few billion towards our declining infrastructure and the cost of living issues here in Australia. 🤬🤦‍♂

  4. As a retired ADF member of twenty years service, Labor was in government for over half of it. Throughout that time they did nothing but erode the real capability of the ADF despite many grandiose announcements of defence boosts. We used to say under the coalition we had plenty of bombs and bullets and Labor was plenty of notebooks and pens.
