  1. Looks like this was a spur of the moment react from our live stream last night. I didn't know that you didn't know about this cover Hurm.
I don't know if you want to check out Metallica's cover of Misfits – Die, Die Darling since you were not too impressed with this cover song
Maybe try these Metallica covers off of Garage Day Re-Revisited
    1. "Helpless" original artist – Diamond Head
    2. "The Small Hours" original artist – Holocaust
    3. "The Wait" original artist – Killing Joke
    4. "Crash Course in Brain Surgery" original artist – Budgie

My favorite cover song is Death Angel's cover of Cold Gin (original by Kiss)

  2. Misfits were never a 'high-end' band… they were punk rock, low budget and all attitude… Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only, Doyle… I mean, Metallica were Misfits fans; Cliff Burton (late bassist) used to wear their shirts… They were even fans of Danzig's post-Misfits band Samhain.
This was recorded in 1987, and it was the first time bassist Jason Newsted recorded w/ Metallica for a 'Garage days' EP after the death of Cliff Burton in 1986… They basically also did the 5 covers on that EP in a garage… low budget, rehearse, record real quick… Instead of bigger influences like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath & Motorhead, Metallica did obscure bands like Diamond Head, Budgie, Killing Joke… The Misfits were represented by 2 covers – 'Last caress' and 'Green hell'.

  4. Want a great cover? Check out “god gave rock and roll to you” by KISS. It’s a cover they made for the movie Bill and Teds excellent adventure. The original was by Argent.

  5. Killer cover from the 80's. Decades before the Bob Seger cover. Back when Metallica was still a thrash band. The early version of Garage Days was rowdy. The Green Hell cover is smoking.

  6. Can't comment on this one, don't know the original. Do think that Whiskey in the Jar is Metallica's best cover but haven't heard them all. Seeing as though you're a Maiden man now, check out Maiden's cover of Lizzy's Massacre one day. The only Lizzy song they covered, and I thought it was phenomenal when they did it back in the 80s. Some Lizzy purists won't agree, but never understood why. It's like Tull die hards who could never appreciate Maiden's Cross-Eyed Mary cover.

  7. Great cover. Lotta fun. I believe this was Jason Newkid's first foray into recording after the sad and untimely death of Cliff. Agreed 100% re Whiskey In The Jar comment.
