  1. If she had the bike on her account and he intended to sign the bike out and into his account with no intention of giving it back then he is in fact stealing it from her. At the very least when they are preventing her from leaving and for the brief moment it took to push the bike into the rack it is a strongarm robbery.

  2. He was trying to game the system. Period. He figured she would fold with a little push, but she didn’t. Good for her. His whole family knows, but they’re trying for a payday. Trashy people.

  3. You're the first person to acknowledge the moral obligation to give consideration to a pregnant woman. Thank you. The bikes were NOT legally "their" bike. As they were not legally obligated to give her consideration, neither was she obligated to give them consideration, given the bikes were ALL docked and free for rental.

Part of the policy for the 45 minute limit was to enable the bikes to be rented by full rate patrons, which she was. This is simple, evidenced, and undisputed: they had no right to restrict her, no right to assault her, no right to detain her, and no right to force her off that bike. She was legally in possession of that bike, and per the policy, that was the intention of the time limit, to place the bike BACK into normal circulation.

Beyond this, race seems to be playing a horrible role in this situation, and, thank you for NOT interjecting that here.

  4. I find their story hard to believe. When you watch the video she was wearing ear buds. At the start you see her switch them off so she can hear them. I find it hard to believe that she had the conversation without switching the ear buds off. So if that was true she had a conversation with them, she would have switched the ears buds back on again before scanning the QR code. Then in the video switch them off again. I find it difficult to believe that she did this.

  7. What amount of time is needed in-between 45 minute rental intervals when using the monthly rate plan like the young man is part of . Example if there is a 15 minute waiting period in-between rental intervals on his plan that ebike is legally available for any other person to legally take possession of.

  8. My brothers were serving in the Navy when they were 17. They were considered men.
Real men would defer to a pregnant woman. Real men can easily ride a regular bike, not so with a pregnant woman. Imagine attaching a watermelon to your belly and standing on your feet all day while performing a stressful job. You have no spoons of energy left.
A strong healthy male should be able to ride a regular bike.
The only hero, the only gentlemen was the young man in the purple hoodie who gave up the bike he had been using If he did not have the bike docked, she had every right to rent it. They would have us believe that somehow a 6 month pregnant woman did a cartwheel, spinning into the air, leapfrogged onto the bike, and "impaled" herself on the bike, like SpiderWoman, physically overcoming a full grown male who was bigger & stronger than her. All this after working a 12 hour shift on her feet in a highly stressful job while six months pregnant.

  9. The guy docked the bike. It's no longer his. The guy was trying to cheat the system. I live in NYC and these kids does it all the time, trying to cheat the system.
