Can it damage things deep under water tho?
As for how to fix lightning for pvp… Lightnibg rods. Let them either have a high chance or be garenteed to attract lightning strikes and absorb the aoe damage but have them destroyed in 1-3 hits. This lets the defenders have a way to counter the spell but would need a lot of them to counter the full spell or two full spells. Lets them save their base but gives a resourse cost to recreate saud rods and gives the attackers points to go after using other means of attack.

Its 1000- 1200 dmg per lighting strike. I did the test for it and I will be making a video thats far more agressive because funcom needs to be sent a message. Lighting should never go from 1200 dmg to 750,000 damage, Period.
I think they should create lightening rods that are building pieces. Even make it so the lightening redirects to your defenses and causes damage to the raider. Or a new defensive tesla coil

It can still hit hard I dont mind it but if they nerf the AOE damage of it, I believe it may be OK.
If I were to balance it, I would just make the spell a PvE spell entirely. Make it stronger and better at targeting enemies so itβs useful for PvE, and then make it not target or do damage to buildings at all.
Iβd make it unable to do damage to other players as well, due to the fact that most npcβs have so much more health than players that trying to balance it to damage both of them would be frustrating. If you absolutely wanted to be able to kill players and npcβs with it though, have it do damage based on a percentage of the enemiesβ max health, rather than a set number? 25% sounds good, a player with 100 health would go to 75 health, and a boss or thrall with 10,000 health would go to 7,500. And they could always be struck multiple times.
Idk, thatβs just my opinion though, I want to be able to use the spell and not have it be super expensive, but I donβt think it should be for raids either
this need to stay its the only way for solo pvp ers to maintain themselves against multiple person clans the game is balanced enough funcom better not mess with anything
Lightning Storm is not a raid mechanic, it's a griefing mechanic. It has nothing to do with raiding.
And yes, I've used and I will use LS to cause grief to bigger clans on official, so I'm not just whining because I fear for my base. Even so I want the ability of the Storm to damage buildings removed completely. Let it be anti-personnel weapon instead.

I'm wondering about bottles, it's the way I've seen most of the people streaming raid is with bottles of lightning storm.
Do the mechanics work the same with the bottles?
I'm more concerned that explosives are more useless with horizontal damage. The damage from explosives are a lot more consistent up and down, but putting it next to an object the damage is negligible.
Most people don't realize how beneficial it was to add lightning storm to this game. This addition completely accelerated the life cycle of clans and raids, it opened up raiding to all kinds of players who never did it before.
They put the life cycle of servers on hyperdrive with this and it's a good thing.
It only takes 1 or 2 days to start fresh and get to endgame production if you know what you're doing. If you get wiped you can bounce back in only a couple play sessions.
Thereβs also a bug where you can walk under water on series x. And also you zombies are still invisible
Poor gameplay mechanic. Forces you to sit in your base all raid when you should be out fighting others. The damage needs to be drastically reduced and price increased. Or make bubbles protect against it
@Wak I wouldn't change anything about what's been done with sorcery except if I were Funcom I would develop a set of shield type spells to help counter spells like lightening. Also in PVE for some player types the lightening spell helps during solo battles… especially events π
Take it out .. its too big of a hassle
lightning should just not damage buildings. its stupid. why use a god? lightning waaay cheaper and just as insane.
Another type of lightning that causes massive damage is the one from the malestrom that spawns the elder things. On my single player game I changed the settings and wow one lighting hit blew my whole base up.

I been saying all this about raiding for over a year. Funcom WANTs official servers to be wastelands.
If I were charged with fixing this I don't know exactly what I'd do yet. I need to look at how this functions in the Devkit. I'll definitely be tweaking this somehow on my private server. The pouches are definitely way too cheap for their total damage potential, but each hit of lightning can do obscene damage. Which is the real problem. Also. I'm not afraid of the term OP. This is OP as hell. Particularly considering that Official PvP servers are now 4x.
OP? Oh, you were hanging around with Firespark. Well that explains it he's been a bad influence on you.
Easy fix for lighting is to make it powerful enough to be able to destroy multiple building pieces with one hit even striking through walls and ceiling, BUT only one hit per cast. Lightning hits a random non-friendly to the caster target in a area but only once. One powerful strike. And that's it.
I would make lightning strikes more frequent AND more potent.

Lightning too op. Its literally a game of who farmed more pouches now. Very little pvp. Just run around until some eats Lightning then kit em.
