  10. My reply to @gravitrax3287, which has been "caspered" … * Shrug * We are also part of the Universe, as are those planets. Not meant to intervene, you say? Who is this person who does not want us to do this, and what qualifies you to speak for him? Why does this mysterious entity object? No, those other planets don't "have their own histories" unless we go and settle there, because there won't be anybody there to write them. Ever.

    Here's how it is, buddy: travel to Mars is A LOT easier than would be travel to an exoplanet, even one as (relatively) close as Proxima B. At a mere .01g acceleration, a ship can cover the distance between Earth and Mars in under three days, when they are at their closest. The ship capable of that trip is well within the reach of present day engineering, and it's going to be built, whether a few insignificant countries in Europe and the Third World will have their pride hurt by this or not. So, unless you've got something better to back up what is looking like a completely illegitimate demand than some vague metaphysical speculations, we (the Americans) will be going to Mars to stay, as will the Russians and probably a few other countries.

    If the UN and NATO don't like that, then how very sad for Germany, Spain and Burkina Faso and History's other has-beens and never-weres, but the countries that still matter will do as they wish. Do we understand each other?

  20. melt large amounts of ice with reflectors for greenhouse insulation and atmospheric pressure – we only need enough atmospheric pressure to keep water liquid in the deepest valleys
    (to surrect planets is how to live in a universe – life as center of the universe )
