I've been going through my albums and completely removing, even though they're not being used to store my LPs, any of the PVC sleeves. Due to their off-gassing and what that does to albums and covers, I've learned that you really don't want those around your records. I used to just take them off and put my vinyl in the polyethylene sleeves and then slip those inside of the outer sleeve for my records. But I've been learning more and more how those PVC sleeves, even if they're not containing the vinyl, can still mess up the albums if they are stored inside of the album cover.
I'm legally blind and I have a friend coming over soon to help me balance my tone arm again. I want to start from scratch really and set everything up correctly. I've been noticing that on some of my albums, and like you I take extreme care of mine, I've been having them hang at certain points in playback. That's probably not the right terminology but I believe you referred to it as repeat. I know that my cartridge should not be the problem because I recently upgraded and it's all new. From the headshell to the stylus, it's all new and it really sounds a lot better too.
It's kind of ironic that I saw this video you made recently today. I was just talking about this same exact topic yesterday when talking to the friend that's going to help me go through everything and especially make sure my tone arm is balanced.
