In this video we’ll discuss how you can finish your tracks more easily. I’ll go over a few factors that I take into account which allow me to actually finish my music. In this video we will discuss many tips from stepping outside the DAW to make desicions to having multiple projects at the same time!

Projektor is an alias I started around august 2019. Under this alias I started posting psytrance music with a clear emphasis on theming and a more progressive or mainstream style than other producers. The goal of the Projektor alias is to release memorable music which works well on the dancefloor. Around january 2020 I started posting tutorials and other helpful videos on youtube again under the Projektor alias. Together with these videos I started selling several products which can be used to improve your productions. I have always believed music production knowledge should be shared and that is now one of my main goals with the Projektor alias. Currently Projektor is the only alias under which I release music, videos or products but this might change in the future!

  1. What I do is forbid myself from making a new track until the previous one is done. I enjoy the process of starting tracks, especially designing the new leads, so it motivates me to finish the old tracks. I realize this only works if you also enjoy starting new tracks.

  2. I develop the kick/bass. Once I'm happy with that, I drop it into arrangement view across from beginning to end for a full 8 minutes. (No breaks) Then I find 1 top loop- stretch that across the full 8 minutes. I use that as temporary placeholder to fill the percussion spectrum. Then I switch to Session view and start developing the main ideas (leads, sequences, etc.) Once I have the main ideas…I record those into the arrangement – similar to how Tristan arranges (if you've seen his masterclass). Its a workflow that allows me to structure a track top-down. Main ideas first, then I start into the detail work – percussion and grids that compliment the leads…then transitions. It's probably a strange way to work but I find I finish cohesive tracks faster. Using generic Zenhiser loops as temporary placeholders helps me vibe and develop different parts of the skeleton..they all get replaced at some point during the process.

  3. I am very happy about your point of view, because I think the same.

Usually its just one detail that bugs me and involves a lack of ideas of how to improve it.
I also render out my audio tracks for mixing, but already have a rough mix by the time I'm exporting.
Though 3-4 tracks are enough to worry about simultaneously.

    Big ups!
