#Porsche #959 #911
From the snowy banks of Sweden to the scorching blacktops of circuits around the globe, in the mid 1980’s Porsche was on top, and couldn’t fail.
But behind those colorful race cars, In the shadows of those podium celebrations, Porsche, at its core, was rotting. Years of bad decisions had left the business side of Sttugart’s finest in shambles. Gearheads who won races had no idea how to be profitable in the modern world.
The future of the worlds must stuffy and successful sports car brand was on a razors edge.
In that darkest moment, a few brave minds at Porsche decided to take a risk and build an out of this world machine so powerful; so complex, so far ahead of its time, that it would change the future of fast cars forever,
And nearly kill Porsche itself, in the process.
This is the story of the greatest car Porsche ever made…
The 959.

Thank you everyone on the team making these videos possible. Can't think of anything better, car related, on YouTube or any other platform right now. Keep up the great work!
This was an amazing video!! As always🙂 And that epic conclusion… man, I so wanna drive a Porsche right now… "All of them"🤩
To Alex, DJ, Ken, and The Squidd, great job on this documentary and every one that proceeded it.
Great video..👏
Love this channel, love the 959 and I also love the 928 that so many Porsche nuts hate (I said what I said). Great video man.
Bro I now prepare to watch your videos with popcorn because your videos have a cinematic vibe that leaves the viewer with an urge to hear more of the story. They gotta give you your own show ASAP!!!!
Hi space cowboys
Yo that last video kicked ass man, f the haters.
Thank you very much for making this stuff. I always enjoy every sigle video from you. You are the best best channel, I came across this year.
loving the perspective you draw of the 959 and as you say emotion comes first
I'm commenting , because comments & likes are Important to the algorithm…
I'm here from day one so the man knows well he Is important & doing gods work
One of the best summaries of my Dad's time at Porsche. He and Bott were quite a team. Thanks so much!
Bro the algorithm got you fucked, the corvette video hasn't done that good and the motorcycle video wasnt even recommended (to me at least) and i thought you were dead
Christmas surprise from Squidd!
Top notch work. I think I’ve seen almost every episode and would tear up throughout each of them. This is how good these videos are
@the.squidd My mechanic is probably the US East coast’s most well known 959 specialist (obviously Canepa is the most well known in the US).
… yet even HE says the 959 looks weird!
Never stop making vids mate. unreal
I feel like a 928 would actually go over pretty well today. Think about it. Porsche is just as well known today for their SUVs as the 911 at this point and it has only increased their presence. I think there's probably room for a V8 grand tourer with a real back seat that handles and drives like a Porsche should. Doctors and lawyers would eat it up.
Thank you and your whole team for making those videos. Every one of them makes me sit on the edge of my sit. Happy holidays!
Actually Gustav Whitehead flew before those Wright Pretenders….
Thank you Alex, DJ and Ken 🙌
rip the 959 so banned in america that it wasnt even in nfs porsche unleashed except in a cutscene lol
Just amazing, unbelievable story and insight and what’s arguably Porsches best. I love Porsches and when you have the time I’d love to watch and hear you cover the story of the GT line at Porsche from birth to current day
The 1980s-era 959 Porsche is gorgeous. It's priceless engineering. . The Porsche 911 from its beginning in 1963 through the decades ending in 1998 was a masterpiece in evolution engineering. .. Sure the chassis morphed some, yet the green-house (roof, glass, doors) stayed the same and is largely interchangeable. .. Re; 1998 911 Carrera S (993) Original owner. . You can take my 993 from my cold dead hands!
P.S. Have a look at what Canapa Motorsports does with 959s. .. Bruce Canapa was more than instrumental in EPA certifying the 959 into the States. . Cheers, M/S
Porsche engineered the excitement out of the 959.
In period no F40 reached 200mph. 199mph was the highest speed reached by the factory, and world motoring magazines. Ferrari banned any motoring journalist timing it's new F50 car, Ferrari were afraid it would be discovered to be slower than the F40 in every way. The 959 Sport had more power and could pass 200mph with ease, as could the Ferrari F40 LM and F40 Competizione. A 959 Sport does not have an oil filler cap on its rear left fender. People think F50's are better, they are just getting confused. They made less F50's so it must be higher valued. Making less cars does not make a car a better car. They made more F40's they are twice as good as an F50 car.
Alex, DJ and Ken, you're amazing. Keep up the good work, all of you!~<3
I just watched the LFA video yesterday and while watching it I was wracking my brain trying to remember what the three digit number to this Porsche was. I know you think they're goofy and I did too when I first saw one but man, something about that car just grew on me. Great video.
awesome vid as usual what a story!!!
Idk why you are giving yourself a hard time cuz I loved your motorcycle video too. I've yet to be disappointed. But that's just me. Idk about the perspective of other ppl and I hope they share my opinion. Either way I'm waiting on the civic and supra lmao 😂🤣 srry I keep bringing it up hahaha
Yes, but when is XJ220??
Interesting you said the 959 was so good that it was almost boring. Jason Camissa said the same thing of the Acura (Honda) original NSX. Almost too good to be a 'real' sports car.
Too good!
That was a very sweet message at the end of the video stay rad man!!! Genuinely some of the highest level automotive Content out there.
