How One of the LAST Classic WoW Servers Fell | Asmongold Reacts to WillE

Alliance and Horde have been at war since the beginning of Warcraft. But what if I told you there’s a far greater conflict between the two factions that affects the REAL game? This is how faction imbalance killed World of Warcraft’s last balanced server, Firemaw.

  1. Servers worked when people were loyal to their server. This died when internet bandwagons became much easier to organise and Blizzard opened up paid transfers to cream off making money by destroying lower populated servers. Battlegroups being the final nail in the coffin. Servers absolutely do work if players don't just jump at the sign of a little challenge in world PvP, no they want to win all the time and want easy mode, so transfer to dominant server and cause landslide populations and leave behind servers to wither and die. Modern MMO mindset is the real toxic thing, having to work around it is just gross and is not the fault of developers.

  2. I have been a part of multiple guild moves and by far the biggest factor on the moves was a lack of recruiting. As soon as its hard to recruit its time to move to a larger server. Not because of faction imbalance, just a clear need of players to raid with.

  3. Not to derail the conversation, but Hello Fresh is garbage. Not being able to choose specific meals, no thanks. And their claim that it's cheaper than grocery shopping is such an outlandishly blatant lie that I'm instantly against them for life.

  4. I think the fact that they added cross faction also means they are losing players, so they need to do that so people doesn't need to wait a lot on queue to do raids and shit.

  5. Played on Fairbanks, the server was mostly horde dominated the entire time.
When free character transfer was announced the entire server basically decided to go to Grobbulus which is PVP RP and was primarily dominated by Alliance.
Now Grobbulus has the 4th highest pop and is the best balanced classic server with 46/54.

  6. The idea of open world PVP in wow has always been Dumb. It is never fun, Its only for trolling and just ruins your experience. I recall leveling during burning crusade on a pvp server. And i only felt an endless fear and frustration. As it only makes a boring and dull grind even more terrible. Specially if you are like me and would rather just level by yourself. not feeling the desire to party up into a 5 man kill team just to avoid the gank.

That said, what is the point of world pvp again? This isn't a game like planetside. Where world pvp is more like battle lines. Where you are pushing for territory with key objectives. Which change the world based on your own actions. It dose not matter if you get a raid of 100+ players and roll into a capital city. None of the pvp actual has a meaning to it.

And from a narrative standpoint, their is just no reason for it. Due to blizzard desire to promote the horde to being Good guys along side the Alliance. They fail to realize a war requires an aggressor. And most people would argue if your going to go to war. Might want to make sure your not about to be back stabbed. As every expansion comes out with a new world ending threat. That makes the idea of war feel pointless. Its like the Gemrans declaring war on the allies. Only for the soviets to declare war on the Axis and allies. It just makes no sense why they would still be at war.

PvP in an open setting is almost always a horrible idea.

  7. The entire "choose your own server" structure feels extremely dated. I am entirely certain that the only reason Blizzard (and many newer companies) cling to this is to prey on people's fear of not playing where they want to be, paying for server transfers. You can not convince me otherwise that this is entirely a business decision and nothing else

If I boot up a modern MMO and I need to select a server, it's an immediate refund for me. Get that fucking shit out of my face

  8. Offer huge bonuses to the people on a "dead server" IE: better drop rates, more materials from gathering, more exp from killing… This would cause people to constantly be trying to get on these "dead servers" eventually balancing it out.

  9. pretty much a never ending problem, be it pvp server or pve server, if one side starts to become bigger then other side will get smaler, I do think that factions in games in general is starting to become something ancients, and now it just doesnt work anymore, every game that ever have had factions like this has had to change it,

  10. The solution to Firemaw overpopulation could be this simple – allow the first 4k alliance to move to Earthshaker for free, same with 1.5k horde to Gehennas. The difference between the free transfers offered by Blizz was 1) the limit 2) both target realms were desirable, with a healthy population.
It would be killing multiple birds with one stone – Firemaw gets closer to 50:50, no more queues, people who don't care about wpvp get to play on healthy pop monofaction server.
