The last video people kept commenting on those monstrous asparagus, so I thought I would do a quick video on them. The best part about them is that they weren’t fibrous at all. Even those 2 foot long asparagus weren’t fibrous! These are “Jersey Knight” asparagus.

lol. Those asparagus got some attention !
In case you didn't know, you can eat creeping charlie.
You could eat the creeping Charlie!
LOVE ASPARAGUS! I have already harvested twice from ours and I have 45 new crowns for the new place!!
Hope to watch the video shortly, just taking a break from construction in a gale and planting my own TreeTime order, which I thankfully got in before the snow comes this evening….ouch! Those asparagus look amazing!!! I planted Jersey Knight and another variety last year and it is just starting to come up here, along with leafs finally budding out. No edible ones yet so depending on what comes up I may wait another year before any harvesting….
The competition is probably good for the asparagus too. When they don't have anything to fight, they don't have a reason to put so much energy into becoming bigger. Like a tree with no wind pressure.
So, can't make biochar here. Anyone know where you can buy it in bulk/big bags?
Regarding the bio char, that is super cool! Would I be able to make bio char with just the charcoaled wood and compost? Or will I need manure as well? And if I did use manure as well, could I just use compost and manure that I can find at a store?
Your soil SCOBY looking good! Asparagus really like trees too so be sure to plant them in your orchard.
I love Jersey Knight. It's got a nutty flavor to it that grocery store asparagus just doesn't have. I'm growing that and Purple Passion.
Hey, I've got a batch of biochar that's been sitting in urine for a couple of weeks. Will that be okay to put out straight in a bed, or should I also inoculate it with my compost pile to load it up with the micro biology? I'm guessing the urine loads it with the nesecary food, but there is no one living in there yet. Is that correct?
Great short video explaining how you managed to grow giant asparagus. So the short answer is feed the soil and the soil will feed you.
With our previous heatwave in Michigan our asparagus grew super fast and huge just like yours. Along with asters and goldenrod . It grows fine with weeds once established.
Your videos are so motivating, I just started my journey last year with 7 fruit tree's and despite months of research and prep I lost my peaches even though they did really well last year. I have another 10 fruit tree's going in the ground this year so I'm excited to see what works and where I can grow (literally). Thank you for all your work!

you have so much knowledge..thankyou..new subscriber from Australia. 😊
Do you hav onions in your asparagus patch?
Keith, perhaps off topic, however, thought you'd appreciate this video. This gal really has her act together agricultural wise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQZ6S8OyzHM
Starting my this year, from seed. Dinner ready in 3-4 years, can't wait 🙂 Thanks for the tips.
Do you have a video on your Creeping Charlie? How/where did you get it or ??
That asparagus is almost as big as your boy! 😍😎🤗
Ever since I've learned about biochar from Joshua Hunt sometime in 2014/2015, I know of its' powers. I've used some in my pots when I had rented a flat with a roof garden years ago. I hope to finally be reusing the power of biochar starting with this autumn. That combined with wine cap mushrooms should make a lovely forest garden. 🤗
