One thing I’ve been doing that helps is once I’ve gotten the track down in my mind and I don’t have to put a lot of effort into remembering brake points and the track in general and I have my best qualifying time in I start taking the outside lines. I want to have the outside lines down too that way I know what I can and can’t do if I end up with a car on my inside or if we end up going through turns side by side. You can’t predict everything this way but I don’t want the first time i have to take the bad line to be side with another car. This also helps you know when you may be better to give up the inside and carry as much speed as you can to hold the other car on that side of you because the next turn makes YOU the inside car. Once I get this down I notice there are more situations that I know better when to fight and when to back off and just keep close for the next section of the track or maybe you’re just stuck until the next lap. I’d rather back off and be right behind someone than to fight for the position and end up making a mistake and being 3 cars back.
Edit- also you can offset the ghost so they’re closer or further in front of you and you can set it to reset on every section so if you’re losing the ghost on a section you’ll reset even with it when you hit the next section. The racing line is not usually the line you absolutely want to take. Also when I don’t know how fast to go in a corner I generally want to be one gear ahead of the suggested gear on the hud and adapt from there.
Edit 2- I found that I can NEVER actually learn the track with a driving line and the braking zone indicators on. I do put the yellow arrows on until I’m comfortable and I leave the little flashing brake light on the hud on too.
Tidgney is actually in the game. He's one of the racers you meet during the single player races. He's been at a few World Championships for GT. I started out watching the lap guides (and have made some myself), but as you gain more experience you find that you can recognise the info from the replays so don't have to wait for someone to do a guide. Once you get a 'perfect' line down, you often don't get to use it a lot during the race anyway so that race experience is essential for learning tracks. Cheers for the shoutout too 👍🏻
Great video again Cas! Glad you are enjoying the legendary Tidgney. Super GT is worth a look for entertainment and he is the reason many started in GT.
On the ghost I normally set it 3 or 4 tenths ahead so it's not off putting but you can set it to reset. This pulls it back at end of sectors so it doesn't run away from you and you can learn again in the next sector. ( That was what was happening on my replay you watched with the No1 ghost) I think this helps use faster ghosts to learn from. Nice to have a mention thank you and to see you sharing your new community 👍. I will try and get some time on this combo over the weekend before it resets again.

So i received a direct message last night telling me "you dont know how to drive".. i responded with a joke "i was abused as a child and to please give me specific constructive criticism so we can make our racing sim world a better place"… it was spa daily race in a new car, please people dont let some jerk bring you down with a comment like that. I shared this story because i feel like this is something our content creator Mr. Casual would like to know is part of the experience. Topic "Dealing with Mean Comments"
After some time you end up learning all the tracks, and then it's a matter of adapting the specific car you are using to that track, depending on it's speed, acceleration, traction, grip, braking, etc. Playing single player in GT is a great way to learn most of the basics, because the game puts you at the wheels of a lot of different cars with very different handling.
One thing that happens to me often when I'm trying to go for the fastest time in a certain track+car combo is that sometimes I begin pushing too hard to try and lower the time in every corner, and I end up doing worse times. In those cases it's best to take a deep breath and try to drive more smoothly, going for the best line but being less agressive with your brakes, throttle and turn in. Sometimes it's even better to give up for the day when you are stuck, or just change to a different track or car.
Fantastic video! Lots of good advice! 👍👍💯🇺🇸
5:55 100% agree ❤❤❤

I have a huge advice for you
In the ghost settings, there is a reposition at the ghost of each section of the circuit .
Try it with 0.1 + advantage of the ghost
And use it as brake markers
Load the fastest ghost and practice with it
Truly underrated content👊
I don’t know if learning on my own makes me a savage… I have fun trying to learn on my own. Doesn’t mean I’m successful. Keep up the great content. Always entertaining to see someone else putting in the time and improving. You have made me less frustrated with not finishing in the front. I’m just enjoying the journey and loving psvr2
My advice for ppl trying to move up in DR is to practice the daily race for at least a few hours every day and make sure you have a good lap time before you even race. You need to do this for a few reasons. 1st is it helps you in general in the race. 2nd is to make sure you're in the top split. You wont move up in DR much if you're not getting top 5 finishes.
great tips and nice channel, some good info in the comments too. thx for sharing
