*VIDEO DESCRIPTION*
After speaking at the National Sports Forum about Major League Baseball’s declining fanbase, the same issues are befalling the NFL and they are about to see how much further they have to go before rock bottom.

EA’s Madden football is doing more harm than good to the NFL fanbase. By limiting the number of options in the marketplace, the NFL is ignoring millions of football fans who have wanted a better experience for nearly 20 years.

tl;dr: Let me be the “dead canary in the coal mine” in showing what Madden (aka Capitalism) is actively doing to kill the sport of American Football

*LINER NOTES*
GENERAL PURPOSE – Cast light on how we got here and why having a subpar product on the market is going to continue to eat away at the NFL fanbase over the next twenty years (two generations).

  1. I never and i mean never leave comments, but this has to be one of the most put together, detailed videos that I have seen from a youtuber with under 10,000 subscribers. Not to mention that it was funny as hell too. This channel is definitely a hidden gem. I hope youtube gives you all the exposure you deserve!

  2. I saw the title and instantly subscribed. Then you mentioned you had a part in killing the Dreamcast, and I almost unsubscribed just as fast.

But seriously great content. There's a solid amount of videos on YT that rightfully shit on EA, and this one was my favorite.

  3. It's crazy to me to hear someone talking about how ea would use other devs to help make madden but also to stop them from making their own games.. I fan remember my cousin who was a dev building games at the time trying to explain to a 15 year old me that this game that I loved would someday be the death of football video games because of the business practices of EA. I thought he was crazy because I was rocking hard on madden and nhl 94. I couldnt imagine football games doing anything but getting better. Then in 2004 the yearly eagles shit the bed, what I thought was the greatest football game ever came out and it was only 20 bucks. I remember seeing that same cousin who is now a dev working for microsoft and bragging about how he was wrong and that football games weren't even close to peak and the best one wasnt even EA. All he said and I'll never forget it, "just wait". Flash forward to literally yesterday, that same cousin who is now dev at Insomiac called to ask me if I got spider-man yet. I was literally in the store buying it and at the same time returning madden 24 because it's literally the laziest and worst developed video games I have ever seen. I told me cousin that was it, I was done. He said "so a huge football obsessed gamer is done with football video games because of EA…. I told you so"

I have to agree, as big of a fan of football as I am, between the NFL refs, the rules, and the madden game I find myself missing games and not caring. The eagles are 5-1 this year and I have only watched 2 games. I dont miss it. I feel like nfl just doesnt care and allowing madden to do what they do is apart of it.

  4. "Still traumatized"?
    Thats a well-sold joke right?

As…i DARE say… 40yo men welling up from a youth coach yelling:
    "HEAD OUT OF UR @SS" 25yrs ago……
-Is one reason why AMERICA IS DYING

  5. NFL ratings declined because a lot of us were sick of watching overpaid cribabies on there knees during the national anthem screaming about how oppressed they are. I am a veteran and the NFL died to me when i started seeing that.

  6. I watched you on a reference, you're content is a little to deadpan for me. You went on a tangent about your background that didn't pertain much to what you were saying. Despite you pointing out it's not relevant, you made it relevant during the review by references or foundational statements made during and the unrequired viewing.
You do illuminate information about companies and practices that are very informative and factual, but you become very reductive in statements like the catchphrase of "Late stage capitalism." Phrases like that have become dog whistles based of good vs bad and not the economic or social effect it has on people, product and economic ecosystem. Some of the people you referenced do this.
One of the biggest problems is you didn't answer your own statement. There also wasn't enough information based on other factors, that have claims or information to contradict broad made statements.
I really like the intro, I like your set choices, your camera work, audio work and editing very much despite my issues.

  7. The NFL needs to let others company's like 2k maybe Sony get there chance for a NFL game I miss the days you had choices of football game from different company to play let the customer have the choice not just EA MADDEN

  8. Wow I was waiting for Madden 94 to make its appearance when you were ripping the other OG games, and learning that I was basically playing NFL 19k94 by Visual Concepts was eye opening. Even some of the best Madden games were made by the 2k crew 😂

  9. Obviously ea games are absolutely atrocious, they just put out the same garbage every year. My hope is that with ea losing the fifa license we can actually see what another company can do. They have to do better for the sake of the entire sports gaming industry. If they come out with a better game, the nfl will have to seriously consider letting someone else make the game. As will the nhl. I can’t wait for that day to come. I just wanted to say great video, I love that you throw in a little late stage capitalism.
