HOW COULD THEY DO THIS?!! The Last Of Us 2 BLIND Playthrough – Part 2

Forever crying…

My very first (blind) playthrough of the Last of Us Part 2.

Decisions used to be easy, huh? What time to get up, what to wear, where to go. Now it’s a bit different. Could you tell friend from foe? Could you kill? Could you do worse? If a loved one was infected, could you do the right thing? Could you put your life on the line for me the way I would for you? Could you be… the last of us?

About the Last of Us 2:

The Last of Us Part II is a 2020 action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4. Set five years after The Last of Us (2013), the game focuses on two playable characters in a post-apocalyptic United States whose lives intertwine: Ellie, who sets out in revenge for a murder, and Abby, a soldier who becomes involved in a conflict between her militia and a religious cult. The game uses a third-person perspective; the player must fight human enemies and cannibalistic zombie-like creatures with firearms, improvised weapons, and stealth.

  1. The game takes on a heavy topic, it forces you to confront the ugliness of hate and revenge. It is a risky path after part 1 but it truly made perfect sense to me at the end. It forced me to look at every character in the story from different angles, not just one (which sadly a lot of stories don't do) It goes completely out of the comfort zone. It is sad, rough and at times uncomfortable, but that's the reality of the world they are in. I feel like part 2 really managed to capture that perfectly. I know that it's not what everyone was hoping for, and I can understand that. But for me personally, I'm glad that I got to experience the story that the developers wanted to tell.

  2. So, this is definitely a game where it's nearly impossible to find everything there is to find on a first playthrough. Take that letter to Eugene at 8:50 for example: the game doesn't outright say you should flip the letter to see that a photo is attached to the backside; it just gives you a subtle visual clue by showing a paperclip is attached to the letter.
Also, I know they do it for immersion purposes, but sometimes I wish the game would better indicate when you're about to do something that locks off exploration in an environment. I mean, there were several funny/amusing objects to interact with in that weed den that you weren't able to see, because the first object you picked up happened to be the one that automatically progresses the story.

  3. You were warned not to play this Absolute Garbage game. And it only get worse from here. Welcome to nihilistic story telling with zero moral purpose or moral message. Other than "I HATE MY FAN BASE" brought to you by Neil Dickman

  4. And now you know why the game is so divisive.* I look forward to seeing what you end up thinking of the story as a whole.

*Well, that and a certain crowd of gamers didn't like that they had to play nearly the entire game as one or the other of two women, neither of whom is "conventionally attractive" enough to objectify, but that's a whole other thing.

  5. FUCK ABBY!! I wanted to jump through your screen and give you a big 'ol hug lol and animals are so amazing. Your cats knew you were distressed and came to keep you company. My dogs did that too when my best friend died. They did not leave my side. Looking forward to your next playthrough!

  6. Though I was spoiled on it going in (not the hows and whys though), I felt exactly as vengeful as you do right now Kim. By the time I'd finally finished it, I was drained but can safely say it tied with Elden Ring as far and away the best game I've played in almost a decade, it's an absolute masterpiece. And by the end of it, I just wanted all concerned to live their best lives from here, and I think you will too even if you think it utterly unlikely at this moment. Just hang on in there.

Or, as a famous fictional Dutchman put it: "we will have to pass through the bitter water before we reach the sweet."

  7. Hi Kim. Much love.

    Two non-spoiler comments.

First, your editing has come so far from the early days. Your touch in these videos is just perfect. You know exactly when to punctuate, and when to just let it ride. Some of the best skills in the whole YouTube gaming sector. Kudos.

Second, just want to note something you said.

"They took our dad from us. How can we get past that?"

Yes. Exactly. Keep that in the back of your mind as you push Ellie forward in her quest. It's the heart of everything.

We'll be with you all the way.

  8. Honestly I wasn't bothered with THE scene. I mean, of course I felt sad and angry but at the same time I was curious about where this was going. Also I kinda of think that the Joel and Elly journey was perfect in the first game and it wouldn't make sense to have more of the same. I feel that they were so brave with the decisions they made since, I'm sure, they knew that people would not love it but still went on with it. I ended up LOVING the second game even more.

  9. @Kim Ellendale Just keep playing. As the events unfold, everything will make sense.

And as you can probably already tell, if you thought they were dark and heart wrenching moments in the first game, you haven’t seen anything yet. Trust me when I tell you, you will cry many more tears throughout this game than you did now.

  10. This game is a heavy one and it tears you apart emotionally. Nevertheless, I think it’s worth the experience. My feelings did a complete 180 from this moment to the ending scene. No other game in my experience has done so since. Be brave and be strong. I don’t believe you’ll be disappointed.

  11. It’s so funny remembering when I played this for the first time, cause I still haven’t seen anyone with my reaction.
After Joel… you know. I didn’t really see the point for Ellie to seek revenge, I got mad when she was trying to convince Tommy that they should. Then Dina said that she’s going too and I freaked out, like WHYYYY?? Then my mom asked: “Wouldn’t you do the same for your loved one?” I said NO! 🤣
I was just so confused, she’s willing to put the few loved ones she still has for revenge? I still don’t get it.

  12. When the show gets to S2 ep 1 or 2, this scene will break people who never played.
    You will learn Abby's why.
Good luck to the show only fans. Going to be a while from seeing this early season 2 til whenever they reveal why.
I can only hope tv fans can separate Abby's actor from the character. Game voice actor got a lot of unwarranted abuse from this scene.

  13. Sadly I feel that Kim is a extremely emotional person, which could hinder to appreciate the second part of the game.

I have to ask, am I a bad person, if I was not really that sad then Joel died? I was kinda already expecting he would die beforehand, but still, I was not devastated about it and even kinda predicted what would be happening in the second part of the game. I even looked forward to it and was happy that we saw that kind of perspective.

  14. Great job with the outro. The editing was perfect and brought all the emotions out 😭😭😭. Kim, you are an amazing editor and @naughtydog would be proud of how you did that send-off for Joel.

  15. I'm really glad you're going to continue the game. It's so hard to keep going after what happens here, but it's a story worth experiencing. This game is so personal to me as someone who lost my father at a young age and I felt everything you felt here in my playthrough as well. It's so traumatic and the game really makes you feel it as if you really lost someone close to you. It's incredible. But it's worth it to keep going. Can't wait until the next video!
