  1. As a fan of both shows, for me it was so nostalgic to revisit The North and the Starks. Taylor did a great job, I feel. There will always be those who complain, but considering we have such a short season with two less episodes, I think we have to be thankful for what we got. The only way we were going to get anything in terms of big is if the show was doubled, and each episode were two hours each. It always makes me scratch my head of what exactly people expect. There are still those who don't understand the unreliable narrators who still think this show will be a literal telling of the book. For me I only want good storytelling. As Condal said, this was fan service. I was duly served and happy with what I got.

  2. What bothered me about the wall scene was that it was the 1st thing we see. It wasnt horrible but it wasnt good either and to stat the show like that was just weird. Just not what your expecting or want to see to bring you back into the story. Then your kinda thinking about that scene and it distracts from the next.

  3. B&C we're supposed to be bumbling idiots. Demond made sure of that. He could have hired any other gold cloak❤ with a lick of sense and more than one brain cell between the ears. But he made sure they were the 2 dumbest. Motherfuckers that were ever born in the the entirety of Westoroes
Because a win is win in the end of the day if they had killed Aemond (which they most likely woulded have) he did his job ,if they offed some miscellaneous family member the enemy is out for revenge not moving strategy.

And to top it off Rhaenyra is now extremely trapped in this war .
Tops off to Demond the devious demon big WWWWs to him

  4. I'll be surprised if we see Cregan anymore before season 3 or 4 whichever one he brings his army in. Off topic question but in your opinion what season do you think they will cast Dalton Greyjoy 3 or 4?

  5. I’m torn between both sides with this. As a book fan, I get why people are frustrated and saying ‘I wish we saw this reaction’, ‘I wish we saw this conversation’. GRRM loves to flesh out his characters. On the other hand though, HBO has only given them 8 episodes this season and there bigger story beats that they need to hit to progress the story. So I don’t want to place blame on Ryan. They need to make the story tighter this year. I would love to see some more characters from this story in more than just cameo roles, but I feel the show runners hands are tied because he’s only got a limited amount of time, and I appreciate that he is a big fan of ASOIAF. I hope they go back to 10 episodes for season 3🤞

  6. I'll never understand the fandom's obsession with Cregan Stark. The guy does fuck all during the Dance and only shows up at the 11th hour. If they stay close to the written material, we shouldn't see him for the rest of the season.

I liked the opening for the content of the conversation, semi-canonizing that Torrhen Stark knew what's coming from the North because Aegon I told him.

  7. I will continue to be bewildered by Warner Discovery cutting the episode count down from the previous season, one of the best performers recently for HBO and television in general. At this point I'd almost expect this to become their norm for Westeros TV, regardless of the huge numbers the shows do, as was the case with House of the Dragon season one.

  8. Everything is rushed in this show 🥱How does Game of thrones have thrice or four times as many characters and we've always seen different interactions? Ryan just glances over these characters, that's why there's no emotional impact, when they die.

  9. I only saw a single bare hint to anything approaching Cregan's incredible backstory, when he says, "…even mine own kin…" in the voiceover- & the camera pans to the person who draws the black stone from the pouch; he is clearly meant to be one of Cregan's three cousins- his uncle's sons.
I'm so happy that the Stark forward force will get to be known as 'the Winter Wolves'…
    Edit: word

  10. With only 8 episodes, we need to prepare for disappointment. Storylines and characters will be cut for time. For what it’s worth, the opening scene with Jace and Cregan was the highlight of the episode for me. I had the biggest smile on my face. Tom and Harry were brilliant and I want more scenes with them. It was like seeing Ned and Jon on my screen again. Harry’s acting has really leveled up.

  11. I thought they could've spent more time in the North too but let's be honest Sara Snow would've been an arc that goes nowhere. I mean, would Sara be with Cregan when he marches south? Like no. So we'd get a very brief love story, and then no natural place to put Sara back into the story again for her to have an arc later on after Jace dies.

  12. Tom Taylor did a good job for the short time he was on screen. But to your point, I was a bit disappointed we didn't get more time at the Vale and Winterfell. Everything was still beautiful and it was nostalgic, but still, I just wish we had more time with the North. That's one of my only complaints with HotD so far, is that it feels a bit rushed at times. This obviously happened in Season 1 a lot because of all the time skips, but I just wish they took more time to build out the world and the side stories like early GoT did. I'm trying not to let it disappoint me too much, because after Season 1, I though HotD has the potential to be even better to GoT (if done right), but I don't think I'll feel this way if HotD continues to not give these other plot lines/side stories the time and story building it deserves. As always, love your channel and videos @The Dragon Demands!

  13. My main problem is they seemed to have moved Torrhen bending the knee from The Trident to The Wall. There's 75K troops and three dragons poised to fight. Most of the guys from The North would rather die than submit. Did the two leaders just leave this powder keg behind to go on a road trip to talk about one of their dreams? I'd have preferred it if they made it clear the the trip to the Wall was AFTER bending the knee, but before they came up with plans to be implemented (e.g. the 10% of Stark household thing).

  14. What does such a story arc accomplish in the limited amount of time and budget they have available? There's a good chance Cregan won't even show up again for several years. This isn't a show designed to expand the world. It, in fact narrows it by dwindling down Targaryens and dragons. It's highly Targaryen-centric. Other houses really only matter in how they affect the Targaryens and how the Targaryens directly affect them.

Should they have built a new Winterfell set, cast dozens of actors and extras for three or four episodes of sidequest? The Wall made sense because they could just slap some NIght's Watch clothes on stuntmen and extras. It's cheap.

The war is the central story and that's not Cregan's story until much later.

  15. I noticed they said that the dragons couldn’t cross- I wonder if that means they are subtly acknowledging that season 7 is not canon (and season 8 as well) since Dany’s dragons did cross…

  16. I think they added Jaehaerys to Alysanne because they thought fans might not know Alysanne alone as she’s not covered as much on screen as the king. Sucks she couldn’t have the unique story but i suppose it makes sense
