  1. Let us remember that self-less decision to prioritize the invasion of France.
While it did give Stalin his wish, it also meant that Western Europe was liberated by democracies, instead of remaining under the boot of the Germans or coming under the boot of the Russians.
Now, 79 years later, we are still grateful for what those men did.

  2. This has been an experience.
It took me 4 days to get through it all, the information density is too high to just have it running constantly. But boy, what a document this is.

At some point, we will need to index and catalogue this work, and all the episodes of WW2 in real time, so as to be able to retrieve specific clips. Will the scripts be available at some point? It would be great for example, to watch all the activity on Gold beach or for the 506 regiment, as a series of clips.

  3. Epic work detailing the epic event very enjoyable and with only one ( 1 ) eye brow raise at twelve ( 12 ), I can see why. It`s a video document I look forward to revisiting in a near future. Thank you for your service all thoses involved from, then till now. [ MORE!, MORE, whistle, ( louder whistle ), more, more! ] <– that goes on for a while.

  4. I was born less than a year after D-Day and I have studied this all my life. This was the most comprehensive and informative documentary I have seen on the subject. You folks have done a great job and I thank you for your efforts.

  5. I have no clue where you found the time to make this series, it’s just astounding. This is perhaps the most complete documentary on the subject ever. Feels like Pearl was just yesterday.

    VE Day is in sight.

  6. To the entire TimeGhost team and all who support, back and assist them – Thank you for a magnificent achievement. A truly groundbreaking presentation of the events of this momentous day. I knew that it would be hard for you to top the Pearl Harbour minute-by-minute specials, but you have done so. Congratulations to you all!

  7. The most surprising statistic is the allied dead at just 2000. More sobering is the 3000 French civilians and nearly 10000 German dead. It changes one's perspective from the war movies or even Cornelius Ryan's Longest Day.

  8. I think Gallipoli is a good example of why Caen is given as a 1st day objective. At Gallipoli the landings go well but then they stop. Everyone is waiting to be told where to go next. Meanwhile the Ottomans are moving their forces into defensive positions which end up holding the Landing force on the beach for the rest of the campaign. So the point of Caen is more to point everyone in a direction to get them off the beach as quickly as possible. In that sense, they fully achieved the objective. Actual capture of Caen & surrounding area on 1st
day would have only been a bonus.

  9. You guys really knocked it out of the park! Excellent documentary, I really appreciate all the work you did on this. Without a doubt the best in depth analysis of D-Day I have ever seen.

  10. If the Brits had pushed out of range of naval artillery support at Caen, things would have been worse. And to come back to a point where Eisenhower was right and Patton & Montgomery were wrong, this wasn't about taking land but about destroying the German army division by division.

    And great work people.

  11. When they talk about the battle of Caen you have to remember the commonwealth forces face the brunt of the German army while the Americans were advancing more rapidly ,as well as 70% of German armour was in the British commonwealth front

  12. Thank you so much for this amazing filming of the 6th of june. I have been watching with tears in my eyes, because of the horrible events of war. I have cried because of the ww1 weekly episodes and I am crying now. Thank you for reporting on these massively important events, I has been enjoyable and emotional at the same time
