I'm in Texas and can relate to your comment about green algae/slime blooms in the hot summer peaks. I made a few bags out of burlap and fill with ground horticultural cornmeal you get at the feedstore. I put about 10-15 lbs into each bag then tie off with some twine so I can anchor to the banks. Throw them as far as you can into the pond (they will sink) and in a week or two that algae with be gone. In the fall I’ll pull out the bags to be used next year. It’s all organic, safe to use, and inexpensive.
The sterile grass carp in my uncles pond weren’t so Sterile. Unless they lived 60 years because he only stocked them once and we still see them
"Notice my pond is about 2 or 2.1 acres"
I notice your tractor next to the pond, which gives scale, and I assure you that pond is less than one acre in that it's about 200 feet long and far less than 200 wide. 1 Grass carp could clean that pond. If you put 3 grass carp in, and one died, the remaining two would keep that puddle clean.
how come the birds die?
Loved your video but I’m off to take a crappie.
Duck weed … isn't slimy
This is an awesome video. We purchased a small piece of property that has the beginning stages of a pond. Unfortunately the previous owner used it to dump pallets, trash, etc and need to cleanup before we can do anything else.
The pond is kind of ugly to be honest. I want a clear pond that you can swim in. Is that possible without pumps and filters?
Good information 👍
hurry up!!!
i am not understanding why you are using dyes in your water? only for looks? wouldnt the dyes be harmful?
Stony Ridge. Thank you soooo much for all the information !
I couldnt find pond dye link
I bought a property with a pond that had been neglected for 10+ years and had holes in the dam from ground hogs. Just about done repairing the dam. No way I'm putting dye in mine. I want to each the fish.
Your neighbours pond is the best thing ever. I'd absolutely love to have that pond
This was an incredibly informative video. Thank You!!
I have a small 1/2 acre pond. Will the grass carpe and pond dye help rid the lillies or do I need an aquatic herbicide? Trying to not use herbicide to remove the lillies.
Does that dye kill the fish?
… country road; take me home…."blueridge mountains" – Zimbabwe massive
Let Cows get in the end. I have 3 ponds. Fenced off the edge. All have massive bass and bluegill
