Xie Lian not carrying his sword and refusing such spiritual weapons reminded me of Wei Wuxian refusing to carry Suibian. The circumstances are different of course, but it just brought me back to the part of MDZS/The Untamed, where Jin Zixun kept provoking Wei Wuxian into fighting him by pointing out his lack of a sword.

You know, I picked up the book again to refresh my memory of these parts (a few weeks ago) and ended up reading the whole damn thing again. FX and MQ turned out to be a chaotic duo who fight among themselves more than enemies, but still they care about XL enough to rush out right after without listening to SQX's warnings regarding the dice. And every other heavenly official just sits in their palaces and enjoys this civil war between those two, no wonder JW can't find anyone capable and needs XL the scrap collecting god to do undercover investigation in the ghost city.
LQQ caught up only to be smashed by our loving couple and got turned into a doll. And we've established that there's also difference in actual strength between martial gods as XL pointed out that general Pei Jr. is on the same level, if not above, this martial god of the east. Hence the question: how strong is XL that he's so sure that he'll definitely kill LQQ in a sword fight while being shackled? Guess we'll find out eventually.
The trash king, green goblin, night touring green lantern, one of the 4 calamities who's only there to make up the number, ghost king QR is here! He eats humans, and kept them hanging upside down and covered in salt like ordinary people do with their salted ham, now this is becoming more than a bit disturbing. That's why I don't blame the humans running away from the cave when HC jumps in to beat up QR, no one wants to end up like that and it's not that they know the man calling for them to stop running is actually a god.
That NOOOOOOOO had me ROFL for minutes, no one got away unharmed form MXTX the saucy minx and her cliffhangers!
How fitting we get to Qi Rong on Halloween of all days lol! While I by no means define myself as a Qi Rong fan, he's definitely such a colorful and loud character that I can't help but enjoy the drama and humor he brings. Super entertaining discussion and read-through as always, hope you have a great Halloween!
Every Monday you remind me of my DIRE NEED to read the rest of TGCF! I'm waiting for the 3rd book to be printed here because I would like to read the physical copy but it's SO HARD!!! Like I'm this ๐ค close to saying "f*** it" and reading online version or even an English one. I'm literally vibrating out of my skin with excitement and anticipation!!

I am not going to elaborate but the comparison of Mu Qing and Jiang Cheng is one that is easy to make but it's also a lazy one.

I donโt know how you do it! I started reading, then had to get the fan translated version of the whole thing and read it all. It took me less than a week, and you only read a couple chapters at a time?!?! Your ability to resist temptation is legendary. I skipped an entire night of sleep and half of all the other nights until I finished. Iโm loving your reactions; they feel so much like my own! Kindred spirits! It's supposed to be budaoweng doll. Apparently suika made it daruma initially because she felt people would be more familiar with it, but corrected it in the official release.
Also, do you have the authors notes in the online translation your reading? And are you going 3 chapters at a time now?

Like you said we love to hate Trash Kings and thats the definition of my views on QR. Yes hes vulgar and evil but he has the most creative insults and hes not afraid to speak his mind (at least while hes alone lol)!
When I read this chapter I felt so confused, I kept reading the same paragraph over and over. My mood was switching back and forth from "aww hualian! I love them they r so cute" to "QI RONG??? WAIT WHAT?? oh.. WHAT? HUH?"
1:00:25 From what I understood, it's not that the dice always show you your worst fear, that's only what happens when a four is rolled (hua cheng says this at 10:52) – bc feng xin rolled a four, it took them to his worst fear. we don't know what mu qing rolled tho, so the crocodiles aren't necessarily a fear of his, but just random monsters like the worms or the cannibals

also: those feng xin and mu qing dice moments are some of my fav in the novel THE WOMAN'S BATH IS SO FUNNY RIP FENG XIN -we love you sorry you have such an embarrassing fear.
I took mu qing rolling the flesh eating crocodiles as less of it being mu qing's fear and more it was another dice number so it was going to be another random outcome instead of feng xin's number which was the biggest fear number, if that makes sense
