I’m your host, Darren Van Dam!

Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.

Thanks for watching!

  2. Dude, yes! I have always thought The House Of Wax remake was great. I remember seeing it in the theater and my dad walking out, but I though it, along with The Crazies, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Hills Have Eyes, to name a few, were very well done and hold up well to the original.

  3. IMHO:
    The Mexican = Old
    Jennifer 8 = Snore
Men Stare at Goats = Old AND Snore
Jesse James = If the movie's slow pace doesn't put you out, the slow, low & control of Casey Affleck's voice will. Brad can't even help you.
Throw Momma From the Train = Excellent Comedy, criss-cross.
    The Crazies = Excellent Thriller/Horror
The Lobster = Very weird, so you stay, wondering what's next, where's it going, when's it going to end, how's it going to end? oh. wow. why.

  4. I do not understand the praise for The Monster. It's more about dealing with addiction and child abuse than a monster movie. The back story for the characters is fine. However, the monster portion of the movie is filled with serious inconsistencies in how the monster behaves and the characters make absolutely ridiculous decisions. The movie is broken. Every other movie on this list is made well and a much better watch.

  5. So glad you recommended the Danish version of 'The Guilty'. There have been dozens of Nordic TV and movies re-made into American that have not captured the essence of the original. Consider these few (Nordic on the left, American on the right):
Let the Right One In vs Let Me In
A Man Called Ove vs A Man Called Otto
The Bridge (Bron/Broen) vs The Bridge
The Killing vs The Killing (although the American version with the impossibly cute Mireille Enos is very very good)
    The Kingdom vs Kingdom Hospital
    Force Majeure vs Downhill
After the Wedding (with the freakishly beautiful Mads Mickelson) vs After the Wedding (the American version changed the gender of our Mads character from male to female….why?)
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Noomi Rapace) vs Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (with a forgettable performance by some actress pretending to be Noomi Rapace)
