Story: Lucifer was cast out of Heaven for not bowing down to Adam when he was commanded to. Lucifer is an inherently vindictive entity that made it his personal mission to screw over Adam and by extension, humanity. His first act of this was successfully seducing Lilith to his side. Then it was manipulating Eve into eating the apple. But it was not enough. Nothing would ever be enough. Sure, he had robbed Adam of his first wife and paradise but it will never be over. So why not take another victory over Adam by taking away his kids?

Lilith developed a fixation on Cain the second he was born. Cain could have been her son if only she had stayed loyal to Adam. She could have lived a more fulfilling life instead of being turned into an unholy demon for taking Lucifer’s side. She didn’t care much about Abel, she wanted the firstborn above all.

Charlie Morningstar is sin incarnate. She was brought into existence when Lucifer and Lilith successfully made Eve eat the apple. She is eager to please her parents and gladly follows their evil legacy. She doesn’t care about having Cain as an adoptive brother but if that is what her parents want, then she lives to make it happen. 

Cain’s entire life was spent with the Morningstars whispering in his ears. Adam knew that Lucifer would always be a looming threat over his family and he did his best to warn his sons to not listen to any of their lies. But it wasn’t enough, Cain was successfully manipulated into believing he was inferior to his brother and that his parents didn’t care about him. Lucifer tasked Charlie with tempting Cain to commit the first murder. It was poetic, the child of Lucifer tempting the child of Adam. It was the Garden of Eden all over again, being carried out by the next generation. 

Lucifer manipulated Eve into forcing Cain to be a farmer while Abel was to be the shepherd. He sent her nightmares about the murder that in trying to avoid the loss of both of her sons, tried her best to keep them away from each other. What resulted is her treating Cain as more of an outcast while being more protective over Abel and she never told anyone about her fears.This validated the lies Lucifer was telling Cain and tore a rift between the two brothers. What hurts is that if the Morningstars stayed away, Cain and Abel would be happy and have a strong bond.

We all know the end result of this scheme. Another unforgivable sin was introduced to humanity. Through his brother’s blood, Cain was baptized into the Morningstar family and was given his mark. He was too scared to go back to Adam and Eve, so he ended up following the Morningstars. For a time, at least, Cain became a prince of Hell. 

In one day, Adam lost both of his sons.

The animatic is in a silhouette style as a reference to the opening of ep 1 of Hazbin Hotel, where Charlie reads the storybook about Hell. I’m not used to this style. That bit about Eve having that bad dream is a reference to an ancient Jewish text called ‘The Life of Adam and Eve’. And, surprise! Charlie is evil in this AU. When I saw all the comments about how people thought she was gonna be Adam’s ally, I’m like ‘remember, this is based on the Swap AU’. The opposite of good is evil and I wanted the Morningstars to be the traditional bad guys instead of misunderstood. They are not sympathetic at all. 

In this AU, Adam is fighting a war on 2 fronts: Abel waging an extermination on sinners and Lucifer continuing to tempt Adam’s descendants so that his kingdom can grow. I consider Lucifer to be more of the big bad antagonist, the type where everyone would set aside their differences to take him down. As for the whole ‘Cain is a Prince of Hell’ bit, don’t worry, that will be expanded upon later. Keep in mind, this animatic is in the context of Cain being in the peak of a delusion that Lucifer has him under. That façade instantly breaks after committing his crime.

p.s. What’s sad about the Cain and Abel story is that in some versions, Cain was only 15 when he became a murderer. But not in my version, he’s 22 when this all goes down while Abel died at 20. Seth was born a year after this incident

  1. PSA, you don't need permission to make content based on my AU, just tag me. Now, AU fact time:

    +Cain, Abel, and Seth took after Adam by a lot: they all have his hair, eyes, etc. Not as much resemblance coming from Eve’s side. Abel’s appearance in Heaven is similar to Lute’s color scheme (white hair and skin). 

    +When Cain gained his mark, his eyes turned red while his brown hair turned blond. In some traditions, Cain is biologically Lucifer’s and I never liked that. First of all, angel + woman = giant nephilim and that is not what Cain was. Secondly, Cain was only human and not having Adam be his dad cheapens the idea that humanity is capable of being good and evil. It's like ‘nooo, murder only happened because Cain was biologically the spawn of the devil' and I'm like ‘man, that feels less compelling’. So as a compromise, I spun it as an adoptive relationship. 

    +In my OG animatic, you can see the mark on his forehead for a split second. 

    +Hebrew is aesthetic and I wanted to reference the language this story was originally written in. Translation of words in order of appearance: Cain, Abel, Evil, Sin, Murder. If Google Translate lied to me, I am so sorry.

    +Charlie’s design is based on Sin from Paradise Lost. She's not 200 years old, she's thousands of years old. Never made sense that her parents have existed for 10k years but she's only 200? ”But…what about Chaggie?” Surprise! gay angst/toxic Yuri. The plan is to have Vaggie be conflicted about falling for Charlie in the first place and keeping it a secret/suppressing her feelings because she can't bring herself to betray Abel like that. Falling for the demon that was responsible for his death is abhorrent and that makes for a spicy story. 

    +Cain’s madness was broken after the murder. The Morningstars lost their influence on him and he left Hell behind, choosing instead to wander in the Land of Nod. He survives off of a carnivorous diet because as part of his curse, all plant life dies around him. 

    +Cain was not of sound mind when he did this. His true thoughts as heard in the song is that he does in fact love his brother and his tears are his actual feelings trying to come out. He is a very complicated character.

    +Despite everything, Abel is one of the antagonists of this AU. I've made him sympathetic and he has layers (kind to winners/cruel to sinners/savior and or playboy towards the Exorcists)  but the true protagonist/hero role belongs to Adam. I understand why people would come to another conclusion though.

    Edit: Oooh, or maybe this is far ahead in the future but Caine singing an apology to Exterminator Abel not caring that other angels are harming him😢 because well you know the Curse😅 with the Song The Ending You Deserve by Livingston as well.

  5. Wait, what are you gonna do about Cain's son, Enoch? He had kids, and the last line mentions "His Seed". I guess you could say his metaphorical children – sinners – but Cain had legitimate children. What's their story?

  7. Wow… I 100% didn't expect this AU to go this way. I thought that Charlie was going to still be good with her and Adam working together in order to try and redeem sinners… But it definitely looks like Adam has ALOT to deal with.

    Also, this doesn't have anything to do with this video, but I wonder what Lute are like here?

    I can still Lute still following and being friends with Adam, despite not entirely believing the whole redemption stuff. Maybe have her be a former exorcist who ended up leaving after getting some kind of revenge but ended up feeling empty after she left and so tried to come back but was unable to exorcist policy, leading to Adam coming and taking her in. I mean, take a look at the show, as their relationship seems a lot more personal, and I think it might be interesting to see that develop in this AU, with Lute also maybe growing to more believe in this whole redemption stuff.

  11. Cain has it fuckin' ROUGH in this. His parents are weary of him for no discernable reason, he's had voices whispering in his head since basically birth, his brother loves him, but the voices whisper that it's a lie, he both wants to be him and wants to kill him, he hates and loves him. The voices won't be quiet. As time passes and he grows older, it gets harder and harder to think. He can't sleep, the sun is blinding and the slightest whisper is a roar. He wants it to stop. He wants it all to stop. The exhaustion, the noise, the voices, he just wants peace. 15 years of being able to resist the temptations of evil. Until, he falters. Only for a moment. A minute at most. But it's enough. A stone thrown. An apple eaten. A brother murdered. A brother marked. A father abandoned. A mother devastated.

    Cain is forever marked by evil. And he will spend the rest of his life believing it to be his fault.

Thing about Cain is that he envied his brother, both Cain and Abel gave sanctifice to God, but God accepted Abel's offering only, and rejeced Cain's Cain get angry whit his brother take him out and killed him whit rock, bible It indicates that Abel was pridefull and Cain envius and from envy came his wrath

  26. I had a theory, that Cain could be the reason why Charlie believed in redemption, probably wishing to atone for what he did to his brother after dealing with the consequences of his actions.

Know I know i said I liked Adam being a heroic character and like how Abel's wrath makes him more deep than the "Dickmaster" from the canon, but honestly I feel like Cain being manipulated into doing this adds another layer to all this. Cain was and is a murderer, sure, but it's sorta relatable. When you're at rock bottom, the devil's whispers to steal, kill, and destroy become increasingly seductive.

  32. this is delightful! from getting Cain's side of things, and how he was manipulated is great! but makes me wonder would Hell even consider redemption in this au or is it only Adam who seeks this along with others in heaven who hate the extermination?

    so many questions but only time will tell, excited for more and until more have fun
