” Eli Lama? My God, Why?”
Matthew 27:45-46
“⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. ⁴⁶ And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying,
“Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is,
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” ⁴⁷ Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, “This Man is calling for Elijah!”
Our Lord was raised, He was crucified at nine o’clock in the morning.
Seven last messages from the cross.
▪︎ The first one: “Father, forgive them;
they know not what they do” [Luke 23:34]
▪︎ The second: “Today you shall be with Me in Paradise” [Luke 23:34]
▪︎ The third one: “Son, behold your mother. And mother, behold your son [John 19:26-27]
▪︎ The fourth saying, my text: “My God, My God, lama, why?” [Matthew 27:46]
▪︎ The fifth one: “1 thirst” [John 19:28].
▪︎ The sixth one: “‘It is finished” [John 19:30].
▪︎ The last one: “Father, into Thy hands I commend, commit My spirit” [Luke 23:46]
There is something about the death of our Lord for us that humbles us, brings us to our knees, makes us feel so unworthy of the love and grace of our Lord; ‘that He should do that for me’
Was it for crimes that I have done-
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!
At the Cross at the Cross
Where I first saw the light
And the burden of my heart was rolled away
It was there by faith I received my sight
And now I’am happy all the day
But drops of grief can ne’er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give myself away,
Tis all that I can dol
(At The Cross by Issac Watts)”

” “Where Do You Turn When Everything Goes Wrong?”
Psalm 146
When times are desperate, our first response is often to turn to others for help. People are great, but we are only human. However, there is One greater than any human being on earth.
The question we have to ask is: Where will we put our trust? Where do you turn first when you get bad news? Have you ever relied on someone and that person failed you? Have you ever felt like God failed to you? Is there a situation you’ve been seeking others advice on that you have yet to talk to God about? Take time today to ask how He would have you approach the problem.”

” “Think on This: ls it 0.K. To ask Why?”
It’s O.K. to ask why, but we are not always entitled to an answer. We are encouraged to ask nonetheless. Sometimes we may have the answer but we may not be able to see the big picture and it is a matter of having faith in a matter.
‘Call to me, and I will answer you, And show you great and mighty things, Which you do not know.’ (Jeremiah 33:3)
Asking God is good as it is part of the process of our work growing and maturing in our faith and having a deeper relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Job, David, and even Jesus asked God why they were suffering.
Perhaps, more than not, a better question to ask is ‘what’.
Ask God for what you need in the Lord’s name, Ask him for wisdom.
You may not have what you want, but God can’t supply what you need.”
