  1. I know this is digimon, but Yugioh Red Eyes and Blue eyes decks are super underwhelming to hand traps.
My solution, is blue and red eyes SPECIFIC hand trap counters. Like this,

    Blue Eyes White Kuriboh-
    (Dragon- light- 1 star- effect)
During your main or battle phase, if your opponent activates a monster effect (quick effect): you can discard this card from your hand to the GY, negate the monsters effect and if you can destroy it. If a face up "Blue Eyes" monster is destroyed by battle or an opponents card effect you can add this card from your gy to your hand. You can only use the effect of "Blue Eyes White Kuriboh" once per turn.

    Red-Eyes Black kuriboh-
    (Dragon- dark- 1 star- effect)
    Atk 300 def 200
During your main or battle phase, if your opponent activates a monster effect (quick effect): you can discard this card from your hand to the GY, negate the monsters effect and if you can destroy it. If a face up "Red Eyes" monster is destroyed by battle or card effect You can add this card from your graveyard to your hand. You can only use the effect of "Red Eyes Black Kuriboh" once per turn.

  2. I'll give those hand traps a chance but I'm afraid of a "Yu-Gi-Oh 2.0." …. Deck building there became so stupid that you start with adding 25%+ hand traps to your deck.

  3. Okay my hot take on the digimon community, is we need to stop comparing everything to yugioh. The existence of counters doesnt make it like yugioh. Its how effective counters are that it can be. Its an interactive mechanic that allows counterplay. You think your opponet might have one so you play around it.

The mechanic itself is fine. The issue relies on bandai not going overboard and printing counters that are just outright busted. Bandai definitely needs to adress current cards in the game and adjust it so the game doesnt becoming too fast or too long.

But magic has instants. Vangaurd has different guardians. Buddyfight has counter cards.

Im leas worried about the mechanic itself, and more what bandai does.

  4. I think those counter cards might functional like Buddyfight counter spell more than yugioh like they might just be a part of some new archetypes because those counter cards do have huge drawback and not worth splashing in just any decks as they seem to exclusive to certain future archetype. The effect only trigger when an opponent attack, and doesn't have stop opponent from playing the game kind of effect. It might be a feature failed mechanic, I believe.

  5. As long as none of these hand traps are just "delete something" we can work around it.
Gonna be quite annoying when playing against secuirty control and they are deleting stuff before I even hit security…

  6. Between this and the Ygg Royal Knights deck just released in Japan it has serious jumping the shark vibes. Kinda gives off the vibe that the game might be dying and they're just trying to milk the last bit they can out of it.

  7. For the Yugioh players that play Digimon Card Game: NO, Counter cards won't break the game. They are more closer to a "Gorz the Emissary of Darkness", than an "Ash Blossom".

  8. I said it on another video and I'll say it again, DG Dimension is gonna be really funny. I'm not sure how strong the Counter cards are gonna be. Since when you play them you set your opponent back but when they take it out they can pretty much just get all that progress back. I'm just worried about it messing up the tug of war feel of the game, though I know my brother for one might like this change.

  9. The Ace is just a brand to specify the new types of cards and the overflow is not inherited, so lets say that you evolve the new wargreymon into a wargreymon X from bt9 if the wargreymon gets delete it of bounce or whatever the overflow effect wont active because it will just activate if the new wargreymon leave the battle area, but it can be active if you de-digivolve the wargreymon x and then delete the new wargreymon the effect will activate.

  10. Digimon is essentially a big tug-of-war; these counter cards seem like a microcosm of that larger conflict.
I hope that is the outcome, and they mix up the meta enough without becoming the meta themselves.

  11. I don't know why they couldn't have expanded the memory boost mechanic to incorporate "counter-play/interaction on opponent's turn" Example pay four memory to set the card on the battlefield. "(All turns), (once per turn) trash this card to do X." Or even better "(opponent's turn), this card can be targeted/counted as a tamer card, if your opponent "insert removal" this card, Opponent loses X memory (All turns), (once per turn) trash this card to do X."

  12. Here is the thing though, I’m sure the different rules for some tournaments were a way to see how mulligan melds with the game or it’s players. Also since there are more than one way to do it. What is great to me is the drawing the hand before setting security as it almost always led to brick while having what I needed in security. Also does this mean in the west even though they are behind in sets will they go to these new rules immediately? Just asking as in the U.K. before I left I heard some locals were allowing mulligan while in Singapore as well as Japan some even thought mulligan was not needed or will never happen.

  13. The effect of lose 4 memory will be interesting. As if it happens on the owner of the cards turn that will be quite funny. But I guess the idea is. Opponent has to choose if they attack you could block and die then they lose 4 memory and basically give away the turn and possibly a fair bit of memory. Will make those tamers that give bonus memory like Merei even more powerful

  14. Ace cards may see some amount of targeted single destruction come back. Gaia force goes from being and 8 cost to a 4 cost if you use it to blow up an Ace monster, if you have it in security its just a turn ender.

  15. I personally like drawing, choosing to mulligan, and then placing security. As someone who moved from yugioh I hope that the counter effects don't spiral out of control and become negate effects.

  16. I don’t like how oppressive Ace Melga is, turn 1 going second you can put out a mega that forces your opponent to stay in raising until it’s strong enough to take it out because if you don’t you automatically delete what ever is put out, I feel like ACE megas should have a 10k DP threshold to allow people to kill them a bit faster to get that 4 mem back

  17. This is just an interactive mechanic and it feels like the people who are complaining are the ones that want otk their opponents as fast as possible. They have a massive downside as well but people are saying much about it.

TCGs are at their best when there is back and forth.
