-Guru Nanak Dev Ji Blesses Baba Shri Chand JI-
During the eve of the Kali-Yuga(Dark-Age), when the first Guru of the World, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was walking this earth, Guru Nanak Dev Ji would go on Udasis(Missions) to spread the Gospel of the Guru, and the oneness of all religions. Baba Shri Chand Ji was young and stayed at home and took care of the Sangat(Congregation) along with tending to the farm of the family, as per his Father’s orders. Baba Shri Chand Ji dutifully obeyed his father’s commands while the Guru would travel from place to place and liberate the masses through the power of his Supreme Penance(Tapas). Upon arriving back home from his fourth and last Udasi(Mission), Baba Shri Chand Ji requested his father, the Guru, to bless him with the Sewa(Service) of continuing his Udasi(Mission), to Liberate the Masses. The Guru of the World was very pleased and blessed his beloved Son with this Sewa(Service), and settled down to continue spreading the Gospel of Sikhi while living as a householder.
Baba Shri Chand Ji went on to travel from place to place and dispel the doubts of True-Seekers(Sikhs) around the subcontinent of India and beyond. When Baba Shri Chand Ji’s end came near he gave this Sewa(Service) back to the Guru’s House, by bestowing the Seat of the Head of the Udasis, to Baba Gurditta Ji, the eldest son of the Sixth Guru of the World, Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. Baba Gurditta went on to expand this Udasi Mission by appointing Sadhus(Yogis) to go out and spread the Gospel of the Guru as far as Modern Day Russia. Thetse Udasi Sadhus(Yogis) maintained their unique identity through time and during the period of intense war with the Mughals, these Sadhus(Yogis), maintained the major Sikh Shrines and continued to spread the Gospel of Sikhi. The Udasi’s unique Maryada(code of conduct) and Dress(Bana) allowed these Sadhus to remain amidst the Tyrant Mughals, while the Khalsa Sikhs fought the war against tyranny. The Udasi Panth(Order) which was originally established by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, continues to spread the gospel of Sikhi to sincere Seekers(Sikhs) around the world.
