Growing trees against all odds: Neema’s story

Ecosia is the search engine that plants trees: https://ecosia.co/info

Neema has seen first hand how deforestation has affected the environment in her village. Only 30 years ago, when she was a child, her village was surrounded by trees. Today, like much of Tanzania, it’s almost completely deforested. Ever since, and only in one generation, temperatures have risen, soils have dried out, and rainfall has grown scarce.

Your searches on Ecosia allow us to support our tree-planting partners at the LEAD Foundation in Tanzania. Thanks to your trees, Neema is starting to see a difference — and to regain hope for a better future for her and her family.

  1. I honestly really want to do my best for the environment. But the problem is a live in poverty in a third world country. I'm also a young teen . I recycle and pick up trash when I can. But I want to do more. But I don't have the resources or influence to do the changes that I want. Do any of you have any advice on how a young girl like me can do something for this cause? I really want to help in any way I can.

  2. I have never heard Ecosia planting mangroves. I request Ecosia to plant mangroves in India's west coast giving special focus on Maharashtra and Gujarat coast because expert says there will be increased instances of cyclones in West coast .
    Please help our planet 🙏.

  3. In transitioning to a forest, you would need native grasslands, then small shrubs, and slowly plant high drought tolerant trees to slowly build the water cycle, and the it should be able to sustain on its own.. by the way great video
