GOODNIGHT SUNRISE on staying positive AGAINST ALL ODDS

Montreal Rocks’ Steve Gerrard chats with Vanessa Vakharia of Toronto rock band GOODNIGHT SUNRISE about their excellent third album, AGAINST ALL ODDS.

The interview also includes Vanessa’s thoughts on women in rock music and who would be in her fantasy rock band.

Earlier this summer, Goodnight Sunrise released five singles off of the album, “Timesick”, “Friends Like You”, “Wait For It”, “Belong” and “One Pill”. These singles saw impressive coverage from premier media outlets including A Journal of Musical Things, Indie 88, CBC Music, Stingray, idobi radio, Rudy Blair, Live in Limbo Sonic Perspectives, From The Straight, AMBY, V13 Media, SOO Today, 94.9 The Rock, x929 Calgary, and x1007 Red Deer to name a few. V13 Media praised “One Pill” calling it, “a polished, dynamic slice of modern rock.” Singles also saw adds on 21 editorial playlists amongst Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Exclaim Magazine’s Eh List, and more! On top of this, the duo also hosted a well-received Canadian Music Week panel discussing allyship and racism in the music industry.

MORE ON AGAINST ALL ODDS:
Against All Odds achieves one of the band’s most longstanding goals: to capture on record the feeling of being at one of their live shows. Against All Odds is defined by hooky choruses, arena-sized drums, heavy guitars, ripping solos, soaring harmonies, and gang vocals. Inspired sonically by Foo Fighters, The Pretty Reckless, and Jimmy Eat World, Vakharia & Kochberg describe the album as “a salute to the rock music that inspired us, both musically and also as a voice for the misfits of the world that push back against the status quo”.
