Goodbye, old friend!

After thirteen years of loyal service, we made the heartbreaking decision to retire the Bob Barker.

Due to its many past lives and multiple campaigns, the thinning hull and the ageing machinery mean the vessel can no longer be operated safely. Therefore, we have a responsibility to the safety of life at sea, and the marine environment, to retire the vessel permanently.

  1. Sad to see her retired, but she did her duty and earned her rest. Hope to soon see the rising of a Bob Barker II that will take the fight on in her stead. Keep up the good fiight, Sea Shepherd. Wishing you clear skies, calm seas and good hunt !

  2. Hello Mister Peter Hammarsted.
Thanks for this great review of Bob Barker Ship History. And Thank you for being a cool commander during the chase of the thunder.
That´s what we "landpirates" want to see&hear from you couraged people at sea. Gorgeous work. I am impressed. Thanks to Mister Bob Barker for sponsoring, what a great impact on marine life, fantastic. I didn´t know that you also stopped the negatively well known Nisshin Maru for getting fuel. What a undescribable act of kindness to innocent life at sea. Enormous. <3

I want to show how proud I am about everyone on Bob Barkers Crew – You´ve done a wonderful job. Please keep up this gorgeous work.

You know Peter, I first learned about Chasing the Thunder in your speech at VEGAN CAMP OUT/Nottinghamshire/Newark 2018.
Well, it was my very first time learning about Sea Shepherd. And I couldn´t believe what you were telling…this was really shocking.
But you showed the pictures, and I still couldn´t believe.

As a Geologist I know how important the Sea for all life on earth is, also for humans. Here on land it´s quite hard to teach people.
But you know what, because I am so proud about your work with the Chase of Thunder I purchased the Sea Shepherd Flag and it wedel´s on my bike since 2018/since Camp Out/since I know from you about Sea Shepherd.
I recommend everyone to watch the documentation, if they get the chance like I did in NHM (Naturhistorische Museum Wien/nature history museum Vienna) to watch it.

I understand how you must feel about retire Bob Baker vessel. It´s a part of you and your crew. Thanks also for telling us your devotion to save life since you were a kid. Absolutely wonderful. Crew must be proud to have a Capitan like you.
For this acitivism we donate several times trough the year, and wear the merch, winterjacket/belts/shirts/necklace/etc., for making people aware.
So then, Goodbye old friend Bob Barker.

  3. I hope you have a bigger faster and more fuel efficient replacement for the the Bob barker (possibly a biodiesel electric hybrid or hydrogen electic powered hybrid ) …. the work sea shepherd does protecting the oceans from poachers is crucial.
