  1. Watched Godzilla Minus One for the first time yesterday at a Grand Screen theater that didn’t advertise it was Minus Color and we were the only 3 people there…..what an absolute treat!! One of the best movie going experiences I’ve had!! 🔥

  2. I just saw the black & white version and absolutely loved it. I wasn't able to see the color unfortunately but am looking forward to comparing them. I thought the reunion at the end was perfect. Everything these characters went through. Everything Japan went through. To have it end on a hopeful and promising note was refreshing. It was also great seeing Godzilla portrayed as the terrifying and unstoppable monster he truly is. Big thumbs up. Hollywood should take notice.

  3. Saw this at my local cinema in Japan. 2 things that stood out to me. The theater was so quiet you can hear the smallest pin drop. I felt the audiences intensity. Lastly, no one moved until the credits finished. Respect to everyone in the process. Congrats Toho for this masterpiece.

  4. This movie was an EXPERIENCE. I really wanted to see Minus One and saw that the only showings this weekend nearby were the B&W version. I decided to give it a shot and took my Dad who is def a fan of the most movies from the Godzilla v. Kong Universe. He actually strays away from anything international because he hates reading subtitles but this movie had him engaged from start to finish. I consider him the average moviegoer and now we’re already making plans to see it in color once it’s out on streaming. This is in my top movies of 2023 for sure

  5. People complaining about the fake out death and her being alive at the end are missing the underlying message and criticism of Japans government and culture of sacrificing oneself for the good of country and honor. The mechanic dialogue about the planes without ejection seat criticizes the government on viewing life as cheap. It proposes a new view on bushido culture. I totally agree that at the end we want them to have a happy life after everything they went through.

  7. Wow…love your take on the b&w version. I saw it today partly because I love it and also I wanted to show my support for this fantastic film (that just happens to also have Godzilla in it). Minus-color works really well…the initial scene with mini-Godzilla was much scarier and made very good use of the night setting. Overall it felt like a b&w movie made in the 1950s, not a modern digital masterpiece. I heartily agree about both Koichi and Noriko surviving…had they both died, the movie would have still been good, but it's so much better that they lived…it plays into the great speech that Doc made…that it was not to be a "fight to the death." =^-^=

  8. I took my Dad, his Girlfriend, and my little sister to see Minus One in black and white for our FIRST viewing. They were very casual Godzilla viewers had no idea this movie was out, they were on the fence about going at all cause it was not only not in color but also subbed but they know how much Godzilla means to me and the tickets were free and I let them use my discount for snacks. My sister asked if this was a remake during the movie because she didn't even know this just came out. My dad even admitted he went in fully intending to take a nap. 😂 But with in minutes they were hooked we all cried multiple times and were shaking with excitement by the end. 🖤🩶 Can't wait for Godzilla X Kong because I love both versions and as Godzilla fans we're FEASTING!🎉

  9. I can’t wait to see this version on Monday, it will be my 6th time seeing it. Also my only problem with this movie is showing the mechanic looking at the ejection seat. I would have preferred this part being a part of the flashback, where the mechanic tells the pilot to live again.

  10. I was troubled by him surviving and the reappearance of her at the end, but immediately started crying after I realized something:
Their survival strongly enforces the message of the movie. Characters often shame on war, and encourage the future, they defy the cultural idea of back then, that "dying is an honor". So him deciding to survive is him learning that not doing Kamikaze was not cowardly, but courageous.
If he had decided to kill himself, he would've never learned that she had been alive all this time and he would've willingly given up the opportunity of seeing her again.
Her reappearance is the reminder that life is worth living, things may look bad, but good things might be on it's way and if we give up we'll never find out.

  11. 'GODZILLA: -One' Is My Favorite Movie Of 2023! And, Now After Seeing It '-C' I LOVE It Even More. This Movie In B&W Is Even Better And More Beautiful Than In Color. I Was Moved Even More Watching The B&W Version. This Film Is EPIC And I Feel That Everyone Should EXPERIENCE It Because It Is Something To Behold…

… I Also Feel That 'GODZILLA:-One' & '-C' Should Be Nominated Not Only For Visual Effects But Also For Best Picture And Best Director Because This Film Is A GARGANTUAN BEAST, (No Pun Intended). It Is Most Amazing…

  13. I went into this blind aside from some of my reliable YouTube reviewers (including yourself) having it on their best movie of the year lists. I didn't know it was Japanese with subtitles and i didn't realize there were a color and black n white version. I accidentally got black and white tickets and took my 10 year old son. When it started andnhad subtitles and was black and white i thought "oh no, this isn't going to keep this kids attention" … we both absolutely loved it. He even told me he didn't think it would be as good in color. Very cool movie going experience!

  14. Wanting to live is not cowardice. The whole movie is a song to the value of human life. He was not ready to sacrifice his life when there wasn't clarity about the value he was protecting. When there was clarity, he was ready.

  15. Have you just said you hope for a black and white dvd release? It’s like saying I wish Metallica realised their last album with another version at half volume. Helloooooo? Tv settings? Also modern audiences are clever? Wait, what?!

  16. Noriko was exposed to Godzilla for several minutes while he trashed her train. I wondered if she gained regenerative ability from the exposure, which is why she didn't die, but she's also obviously contaminated in some way.
