  1. The full round is bigger then an American beer bottles, and they come in two flavors which is HE (high explosive) and AP rounds made with Uranium. Uranium self sharpens like when it hits something hard, fast and hard, it makes it like a needle

  2. The first design had the wheel in the center and the gun off to the side but the gun was so powerful that it pulled the plane off to that side when fired so the gun was moved to the center and the wheel went off to the side.

  3. Don't worry about having an A-10 on your ass, at least not if you're a jet. The A-10s engines don't push it very fast at all. It's often said that the A-10 is a single-engine jet, but they just broke it in half. It's the only aircraft that has to check behind it in case of a bird strike.

  4. It is often said that the A10 Warthog is a gun built around an aircraft.
The "Thunderbolt" name comes from WW2 in honor of the P-57 tank buster who was equally devastating and could come home with 500 lbs of enemy bullets lodged in its frame.

  5. one of the best weapons we have , yet the left wing here in the states has been fighting for at least 15 years to shut them down decommission them , and sell them to the highest bidder ! the replacement , the f-35 , an excellent fighter plane , fast and very maneuverable , but it`s not the heavily armored tank killer the A 10 is ! we have a lot of total morons in our government and the pentagon ! we see them often , you hear them before you see them , and they always fly in pairs !

  6. Because the A10 flies at a lower speed, it's maneuverability is outstanding. That's why it looks like it's almost floating. Allowing the A10 to stay on the battlefield longer to directly support grown troops. Which is one of it's main missions, awesomely crazy munitions, ground troops absolutely love this plane.

  7. The USAF has been trying to get rid of the A10 for years even though it is the favorite of the ground troops it is supposed to support. If Ukraine had them at the beginning of the war with Russia…

  8. As a Marine infantry officer and combat veteran, this was the single most important air support on the battlefield. The 30mm depleted uranium round can penetrate 1.5 inches of steel and it fires them at a rate of 65 rounds per second. Oh, and it carried bombs and air-to-air missiles. As to your question about the crew, it's a crew of one.

  9. The A10 is my absolute favorite! I grew up miles from an army reserves base and they regularly did practice missions with the A10. The BRRRRRRRT off in the distance miles away was soooooo cool! I just wish i got to see ot when i was in the army myself. I was an intel analyst though, so i worked with a lot of UAVs. The jets were only brought in when shit hit the fan. A simple fly over with an F15 or F16 was enough to make my job nice and quiet and easy for an entire day or more. Haha they were terrified of the jets.

  10. I live in indiana and as a kid when we'd spend time at my grandparents house at the lake the a10 would be doing live fire exercises at camp atterbury and we spend all day watching these monsters go in on gun runs. That gun live is bad ass. And the engine noise makes you know what's killing you.

  11. To me this aircraft is the modern day Stuka….not the fastest plane in the sky, not a fighter plane, but can certainly defend itself….and it's main function is for support of ground operations.

  12. The warthog is the direct predecessor of the P-47 thunderbolt. It was designed with triple redundant controls, and the ability to make it back to base with one wing, one engine, and half a tail missing.
