Our Doberman Tiger, who guarded and protected us for over 12 years, has passed away on 01 March, 2024 in Corjuém, just a day before my late mother’s birthday.
Tiger was given to us by Luizinho Faleiro and we fondly remember the day he came into our lives at Margão – such a sweet little pup! Very active and smart. He was later brought to Corjuém when he was barely 6 months old. My mother was very fond of him and he of my mother. Whenever she visited us in Corjuém, he would be by her side, to protect her.
Whenever Natasha would speak to him, he would always make small eyes (as you can see in the video).
Initially when some monkeys had come and were seated on the compound wall of the Corjuém house, Tiger rushed to attempt to chase them away. After many attempts over a few days, the monkeys left, never to return!
He even got struck by the quills of a porcupine – but the fighter that he was, he would not stop and Rafi had to pull him away and remove the quills stuck in him.
Whilst he would not let anyone in the lower section, he was gentle and kind when at the higher level of the house property.
If he found the gate open, he would rush out (as if to freedom) and had to be brought back after a chase – whilst he would be exploring news vistas in our little village of Corjuém.
He would enjoy car drives and would be seated with great joy and would not come down until he had been taken for a drive (howsoever small the drive).
There were some people whom he had marked and would not trust nor tolerate their sight – any amount of coaxing would not help – and he was never wrong!!!
Initially when I would tell people I had “Tiger” at home in Corjuém, they would be worried to come over or others would enquire how we were managing to rear a tiger!!!
Pets are always affectionate and over period of time, they become part of the family: sharing our joys and sorrows and silently suffering our idiosyncrasies and always giving us a positive look, feel and energy. I love pets. ❣️
Immense gratitude to Rafi for having taken such great care of him always, even during the last few months when he was quite unwell.
We did give him a decent burial and in memory of the lovely days we had with him, we are sharing a small video made from some the pics with us and a few video clips of Tiger over the years.
