  1. I remember the first days of boot camp in the US Army we given a class on it's history. The instructor told us we'd be learning drill movements that were directly descended from Von Steuben's 'Blue Book' of simplified drill movements. We were also told our drill sergeants were descendants of Von Steuben's 'Model Company' in that they were the best sergeants from various units that on top of regular duties had to spend extra time with Von Steuben's instruction, all while cold and starving which made them infamously short-tempered and gruff when they returned to their units to train them.

  2. Despit America being a laughable upstart country by so many it is more than obvious great men, their beliefs and absolute willingness to engage, and if need be sacrifice all for the bigger cause of "WE THE PEOPLE" was simply overlooked and well the rest is history. Thank God for our forefathers who had balls.

  3. I always found it so very hypocritical of 'Congress' to question Washington's efforts/skills (even if he did make mistakes), much less the SOLDIERS fighting for America's Independence, considering how terrible 'Congress' was in supplying and PAYING THEM in the first place! Some things never change: the fat cats sitting way in the rear echelon, in relative comfort, while the ones doing the hard work and dying are left without. Rome fell in much the same manner.

  5. I was glad to be able to hear about John Paul Jones’ story in this episode I’ve heard the name and that he was an important historical figure in the navy and there are ships named after him but I never knew what he actually did. The way he pillaged English shores reminded me of Ragnar from Vikings! I’m sure he was a fierce warrior hearing how he decided to take on the British mainland all by himself and was the first to win a naval engagement for the newly formed American Navy

  7. Immediately upon being made commander of the army, the first advice George got was to never, under any circumstance, winter at Valley Forge. It was his first winter camp. It almost broke the army. In the diaries of the troops it describes a valley stripped bare of every green leaf and trees stripped of bark. Leaves, grass, bark. The food of the army at Valley Forge. They stripped the valley bare.

  8. There is definitely a slant towards liberalism in this presentation. Taking some of the truth to make your point. I am unsubscribing from this channel after being subscribed for just a few days. Very disappointed in the presentation of the revolution, a revolution to free people, not enslave them.

  9. Prussian Captain? It does'nt matter to a Leader in Desperation, "Baron"Von Steuben, was the First Drill Sgt. In the American Army! He brought Discipline, and Espirit De Corps, to raw men! He made an Army!
