Gene Simmons and Wendy O. Williams – It's My Life (franKENstein Redux)

This duet combines Gene’s vocal from his original demo and Wendy’s vocal from her WOW album, which was produced by Gene and featured a lot of material from what was meant to be a KISS album. The lead vocals have been edited to match each other’s phrasing and the chorus uses a combination of Gene and Wendy leading off the different parts.

The music track is from Wendy’s album with just a few minor adjustments; mainly to the level of the guitar solo.

The chorus vocals are a combination of the Gene demo and the WOW album track.

I thought it would be interesting to hear what a duet might have sounded like.

Enjoy!

  1. HOLY SHIT!!!! This is AMAZING!!!! Wendy has a very Joan Jett aspect to her singing here….LOVE it!!!! Great work!!!! Another cool thing you can do with this song is to take the WOW backing track and Gene’s vocals from the demo, bring the sound of the vocals up to match the backing track and BOOM! You get your “official/unofficial” Kiss version from the actual era….
