#Gaming #EldenRing #PS5
Bandai Namco, in a note to players on Friday, acknowledged performance issues with Elden Ring on Windows PC and promised improvements are on the way. Nonetheless, stuttering, slow frame rate, and other distractions have given the otherwise critically acclaimed RPG a “mixed” reputation in Steam’s customer reviews.
“We will be constantly working to improve the game so that it can be played comfortably on various PC environments and platforms,” the publisher said. However, “for the PC version, updating your graphics card drivers to the latest version may significantly improve performance.”
It may not, as well. Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry on Thursday noted that PC version 1.02 of Elden Ring “has a number of issues that will affect all hardware configurations on all graphical settings presets.” The report said that stutters of up to a quarter of a second — therefore dropping the frame rate for a 60 fps game into the 40s — are detected when “new effects, enemies, and areas appear on screen.”
Loading new game areas also apparently triggers “a second and more pervasive stutter,” Eurogamer added. While higher-end monitors with variable refresh rates can ameliorate these distractions, “leaning on the technology” isn’t an acceptable solution given that console versions of Elden Ring don’t have the same problems.
“It could be sensible to wait for further patches before investing time into the PC version of Elden Ring,” Digital Foundry concludes.

What do YOU think of these problems? Thanks for watching and LIKING the video! <3
Because of The fake critics reviews and fanboy reviews including you i bought the game and now i totally regret it . Right now this game is completely unplayable bugs , shuttering, glitches . I just wasted 60$ on this buggy trash .
I can't wrap around my head as to why most big games can't even execute a smooth launch. What kind of special computer are they using to make these games that are more optimized for console?
I have a lower end but not garbage system (i7-3770s, RX480 4GB, 16GB DDR3,) and while the performance is a bit disappointing, it's not tarnishing (pun intended) the experience for me too much. I still get around 40fps @ 1440p medium/high, and pretty close to 50fps if I drop down to 1080p. Not excellent, sure, but with a VRR monitor, I find it's good enough to generally enjoy the game.
The stuttering is an issue though. New areas will drop to around 20fps for me for 5ish seconds, and I've had the game totally lock up for a couple seconds at least a few times, some at critical moments.
Hopefully they can really improve the PC version, but honestly I am having a great time now, even despite the issues.
iv played all of the souls games on xbox not once did i think any of the games needed fixed because they didnt i cant say the same for other systems all i have to say is you should of bought an xbox
The Xbox isn’t perfect either. You can’t even play online just offline been this way when it came. By no means is the Xbox perfect either. This game that is fun but still broken like most big 5 star games are now s days just like cyberpunk and so on. I played the patched cyberpunk and it even had game crashes also and you can’t even play it on graphic mode with out stuttering and performance mode is ok but still have funny glitches or worse game crashes. Here’s hoping they fix both games cyberpunk I feel is just broken and still be unfixable.
do not play the game with keyboard & mouse
I still have issue with the launch, the game just won't start :/
Actually ps5 runs better than series x . Only if you have vrr tv the Xbox benefits from that. Without vrr ps5 has better fps. Unfortunately not everyone has a tv or monitor that supports vrr.
Zero performance issues on my end, seriously not even with a high end rig just a 5900 a 5700xt and a nvme. Pretty sure most of the issues are related to configurations rather then hardware.
GAMES SHOULDNT NEED A PATCH DAY 1 TO WORK. MODDERS FIX THIS CRAP FASTER THAN DEVS. Don't give em any excuses.
People who gave Elden Ring a perfect score are clearly Souls fans and most likely RR Martin stans too. If you want performance, PS5 version on the PS5 is the best way to go
This game is so good! Absolutely outstanding and I do believe that it is a masterpiece. With that said, this game does run horribly. I have a GTX 3080 and an R9 5900X, both are overclocked too, and running this game at 4K 60FPS is straight up impossible. For almost every other AAA game I can hit that mark easily enough. I doubt it will matter what settings I play it at, something baking in to the game makes stutters happen all the time in the open world. I also had the game crash on me more than a few times which never happened to me with another FromSoft game. I trust that this will get sorted out, but the game should not have launched like this, it should have been delayed.
Can someone say to me why i dont see any signal to call players for help?. I dont see any single one in all the map. I cant get help from other players. I have perfectly fine internet connection.
its terrible on ps5 also . the frame rate issues has ruined the experience for me
I really wanna enjoy the game more but it stutters so much for me on a pretty constant basis. Have not had this experience with any other game and it's pretty dissapointing but staying hopeful for a patch fix soon.
Uhm playing it in ps4 and runs great lol
I think people forget that not only is this a next gen game but it is absolutely enormous. It truly is a masterpiece. People also forget that this is base game, of course it'll need ironing out and that will happen.
Yeah, it's a shame for PC gamers but it won't go unaddressed.
I'm on PS5 and not how one performance issues or glitch 20 hours in.
The fact there's only one real issue upon release is telling of how much care went into it. If any other company attempted a game like this, there would be way more issues.
In a couple of months time or even less, these issues will be a thing of the past and the game will be further improved. This will be temporary.
I haven’t had any frame issues
I am glad I got my copy on xbox series s, no stuttering so far. Given my last experience playing sekiro on PC, the stuttering issues was serious on my laptop too. Given Fromsoft history on PC port, I dare not to even try to run elden ring on my gaming laptop which is now 4 yrs old
I understand why people are mad, try playing any souls game with stuttering, it will drive you nutz. You need precise reaction and even a little bit of lag will kill you
So glad I didn’t get it on PC
I have just returned the game, a lot of bugs and performance problems in Xbox Series X. And I really don't like the open world, even if sometimes in my 2 hours with game was cool. Sometimes. Maybe in a sale, but sadly today the game is broken.
What in the world is this guy talking about? He says the better a game does the more people want to complain lol. Is he out of his mind. I built a new PC for this game. And would like nothing more for it to run properly. Believe me people aren't complaining just to hear themselves speak. PEOPLE JUST WANT WANT THEY PAID FOR. These companies need to take responsibility for there actions. Don't release something until it's finished & it works properly. But GREED will have them crapping on the gamer every time. Give me a break FromSoftware could care less about the consumer or they never would have released a pile of garbage. And let me say as a PC gamer with RTX Geforce 3070 / DDR5 32 GB RAM / 12th Gen i9-12900k this game is unplayable on pc even at 720. resolution. And with all of the settings on low. Unexpectable!
I pretty much get a locked 60 fps on my 2070 super at 1440p with the occasional stutter, im pretty happy, tho the stutters can be annoying.
I dont get why so e people get this much stutter even with higher spec than my pc, i have a 9700k i7 and a rtx 2070 super with 32 gb of ram and except 2 or 3 times when i go from open world to close areas i didnt stutter once, and even when it did it was like 30 fps and not 60 so still perfectly playable. Maybe its a mixture of antiivrus and setting of windows? Idk
I have a decent rig but got very poor framerate problem too at first.
But then I found a solution on one of the reddit post and it's work for me.
Now I'm playing at 60fps smoothly.
I kinda understand about framerate locked at 60. I think it related with iframe and evading.
I seen tons of vids that said the ps5 version was the best running version. I haven’t started it yet because I need to finish forbidden west
PC version doesn't have resolution slider, in 2022 that's unexpectable, I immediately got refund.
Heard it's playing fine on the PS4 and PS5. Good to know my PS4 Pro will be able to play this just fine …I'm gonna wait for it to go on sale…I'm gonna pre-order Elex 2 and The Evil Dead for now. I'll get Elden Ring around Black Friday. I'm debating on getting WWE 2K22 NWO 4-Life Edition too but will probably just wait for a sale as $120 is a bit much. If it was $79 I could swing it..but now I'll wait till it's on sale for far less
12 hours a day …every day?…do you live at your mom's in a basement? And I'm not being rude or anything..it's an honest question.
tbh I m proud of myself that I can half hp an invisible tree sentinel at lvl 0
When people pay as much as for a second hand truck for a PC just so that a 60USD game runs like garbage, they are entitled to criticizing said game. As PC gamers we have made developers LAZY. We constantly buy more powerful hardware just so that these devs can slack on their optimization. The graphics are literally from 2015. They are not pushing frontiers here.
My 2 friends and I all got Elden Ring to play on pc. We all have different rigs and setups. All had different problems. Here's what we experienced for anyone interested:
My setup, I can understand problems happening. I play with around the minimum requirements on Ubuntu linux. Oddly out of the 3 of us the game Usually runs most smoothly fps-wise for me. EAC surprisingly works well, which is a huge issue for linux gamers 99% of the time for all games. But about 75% of all npcs are invisible to me, but they become partially visible (transparent) if the camera is turned towards the sky. Other than that, I get massive lag whenever my character is struck. But I can turn my graphics up to maximum and pan around the view looking at all the flying particles just fine. It doesn't matter if my settings are on low or maximum the performance is always like this.
Friend #1: Is on windows 10 with a 3080 and high performance machine and experiences stuttering even on low graphics after the post launch patch. It might be barely playable, but hardly worth trying on a nearly $4000 machine. Has had 1 or 2 invisible enemies but went away after remaking his character.
Friend #2: Has a fairly minimal setup with a 980. He gets lag and has to have settings all the way down but the game is barely playable. His game crashes every 30 minutes or so and he frequently falls through the ground. Overall though his game is most playable, has visible enemies and plays well until it doesn't.
Ps5 version here no problems at all game is great
Does it still have that terrible fromsoft camera "correction" always trying to swing behind your character so you have to constantly feather it in order to look One Direction and walk in another?
Camera assists have been a plague in gaming history, a literal training wheels fail!
if you dont lnow what "camera assist" is just press left or right on your movement stick…if your character walks in a circle like a duck with a head injury you have "camera assist" and thats why you have to constantly fiddle with the look stick
For the technical details, Digital Foundry is the gold standard. Check them out for detailed analysis.
I agree with the people who are tired of literally every game either being a 10 or a 0. There’s so few games that are just good. I remember when Bioshock Infinite came out way way back, everyone praised it and said it was the best game ever with the best story. The story wasn’t that good and the game wasn’t even complete. They developed it with all the good ideas at the beginning, and everything became less useful as you went further in. There were equippable items that made you invincible so you could just jump around from hooks to aerial takedowns never dying. The engine they used couldn’t support enemies moving between multiple rooms. So if you backed out of a room through a door, the enemies would run away from you. These overhyped games are never all that.
This is why youtube reviews are laughable. Look at the steam users reviews of you want honest unmotivated reviews. Not someone who makes a living talking about every game that comes out.
I don't think that Tony guy was saying he hates the game because everyone loves it, he was saying that people these days either praise a game like it's the second coming of Christ, or that it's the worst thing to ever happen to humanity. And these extreme attitudes towards games can be a bit of a turn off, cause when it comes to games that have a high praise, if you make any sort of criticisms about it, everyone jumps on your back calling you a hater (kinda like you just did), and on the opposite end, if a game is universally lauded, and you say "Hey I kinda like this game, it's not perfect but it's still fun" everyone thinks there's something wrong with you. It's that peer pressure induced hivemind mentality of "Either you're with us or against us" that people on the internet seem to take. It's probably also a hard pill to swallow when they see this game getting 10's around the board, when their game can barely function (I've seen videos of people playing this game and the stutter is so bad that it's literally unplayable). Basically, too much hype can be nauseating, especially when a game clearly has problems, it comes across as dishonest. It's the same when everyone slams a game with 0's on Metacritic, like what happened with Forbidden West. Everything is either a masterpiece or a disaster in people's eyes, when usually it's a bit more middle ground than that. I think he had a fair point so I don't see why you're shaming him unless you think everyone needs to see the game as a masterpiece like you do.
Just a bunch of people who don't know how to use Pcs with bandwagon brain. Git GuD. I remember my first From Software game
Here's another reason this is gonna have "haters". Soulsborns aren't for everyone. At all. Giving it a 10/10 when it's a Niche game is gonna pull alotta people in who it's literally not made for.
I've put 5.5 hours into the game and am while I am enjoying it for the most part the performance issues have been annoying to deal with. I've decided I won't play it any further till they fix the issues. I just don't want my experience of the game to be marred by bad performance.
I'm playing on PS5 and haven't encountered any problems other than some pop-in. Both quality and FPS modes both look the same to me. Ergo, no complaints here. The game is a fucking dream.
