  1. You need to stop so liberally and confidently describing ancient Britons as Celtic, there is no actual proved link. Even when trying to establish the competing theories you say Celtic Britain as if that is actually a thing and it's not.

"The term Celtic is often used in reference to the iron age, but archaeologists still debate whether it should really be applied to Britain. There is little hard evidence that any Celtic peoples crossed the sea from their heartland in central Europe (indeed some scholars argue that there were no people who called themselves Celts, that the name is simply a label for what is incorrectly perceived as a single ethnic or cultural group). Through trade and social contact however, some aspects of Celtic culture clearly did arrive in Britain and fused with, or found expression through, home-grown traditions. As a result, "Celtic" now embraces a confusing mixture of concepts…
… Most archaeologists prefer to rely instead upon the material evidence of the past, so "Iron Age" is used in preference throughout this book." Stewart Ainsworth, Al Oswald, Hillforts: Prehistoric strongholds of Northumberland National Park.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what the term Celtic even means, and it certainly doesn't apply to ancient Britons.

  2. I love how in every instance the Britons attacked the Romans, even with superior numbers, outmaneuvering, and screaming ferocity – a weeb's wet dream of Hollywood battles – the Romans repelled them with EASE. Even the mighty Boudicca. Their only successes came when Rome was doing something elsewhere and left an area largely undefended, or when the Empire itself was collapsing under government bloat and corruption.

It's like when the average, blue-collar sports fan wants to see their team hooting and hollering, jumping up and down, getting "amped up" with absurd celebrations and flying aggressively to make big hits…only to watch their team lose to the opponent who is calm, collected, and laser-focused.

Discipline, training, and equipment beats ferocity and aggression 99/100 times. The former is trusting in the training, equipment, and confidence from both. The latter wastes energy and makes one reckless.

  3. My two active brain cells are unable to fully get this. So many different people. I lost track. Great video, will have to watch again when I am not doing other things at the same time.

  4. Really great work as always guys, and the latest visual improvements are awesome! However, although I am not a historian and realise the Romans were influential on British history, a lot of this video is devoted to Roman Britain. It would have been nice to see more about the evolution of the Celtic (sorry if that isn't the right term!) kingdoms, cultures, and languages, after Rome left and through the Medieval era, seeing as what little there was in this video is so interesting.

  5. Being a big fan of the old show Time Team, a lot of the places and names you cover, sound familiar from that show. I am not British, but have ancestry there. Being that both Cooper, and Buchanan are strong in my line…

  6. I`m Welsh and to me Arthur comes from arth, meaning bear, so it`s possible it was a nickname for a great warrior and not just one single person.
Also around 536, there was a huge volcanic explosion in the Indonesian region which greatly affected crop yields across the world which would have also held up anglo-saxon expansion.

  7. hahahaha. Me, calmly and attentively watching a nice long and super well done documentary on Britons:

The documentary: "He immediately began planning Invasion 2: Electric Boogaloo" 🤣🤣🤣

  8. So, as funny as the cultural references are in the script. Caesar’s Hot Girl Summer being one of them; y’all need to tone it down a little. It sounds like y’all are trying too hard. It’s okay to just give the information and keep with the dry humor that pops up.

  9. Most celtic peoples believed in reincarnation as well. It's one of the major reasons why the romans stomped out the druids. Belief in reincarnation made celtic warriors too rebellious.

  10. Something you showed as raiders of roman Albion, but not as invaders:
-Though it is impossible to know exact numbers and migration patterns, research has indicated that many now Dutch Frisians were part of the wave of ethnic groups to colonize areas of present-day England alongside the Angles, Saxons and Jutes, starting from around the fifth century when Frisians arrived along the coastline of Kent. Frisians principally settled in modern-day Kent, East Anglia, the East Midlands, North East England, and Yorkshire. Across these areas, evidence of their settlement includes place names of Frisian origin, such as Frizinghall in Bradford and Frieston in Lincolnshire.
Of course, Frisians would have been lumped with Saxons, both had blonde hair and blue eyes and spoke a germanic language…..

  11. I love your videos man but there is absolutely essentially zero evidence of some kind of ancient druidic order that provided secret underground resistence. Or anything resembling a body of political power on its own… I think you are reading straight from a roman generals journal

  12. thanks for teaching the world about my ancient British ancestors culture and history yes many things we know about the ancients comes from roman documents as celts didn't write history or events those were passed through story's and songs modern druids still exist in the British Iles today hosting traditional ancestor ritual's but these are small on scale the modern druids host events on the Celtic holidays of summer, solstice winter, solstice and the Celtic new year Samhain

  13. Once again excellent content. Nice to know what the ancestors were up to a few thousand years ago! Who needs fiction when you have history? My grandparents knew a little bit of Celtic, my dad was probably the last in a line of Celtic speakers in my family maybe going back a couple of thousand years. (although he was taught some celtic 'blessings').
