Front Patio Done! Let’s Entertain!

In retrospect, it happened so quickly! The front patio is done, and even though it is still surrounded by a sea of mud, my mind is already planning on strategies to up the entertainment ante of using this space. #gardendesign #cottagegarden #patio #frontyard #landscaping #cottagestyle

  1. In Zone 6 – PA – there is no alcohol sold in TJs! Too bad bc I miss the "2 buck Chuck" as their wine is known as. Obvs not $2 anymore.
An easy way to remove any sticky label is using a Scrub Daddy sponge – I use it with cold water & a drop of soap and labels come right off.
I was listening to BBC radio, and heard Simon Lycett (the royal florist) say he used bobeshes! I nearly fell over…

I LOVE the new patio and really enjoyed watching it come to life. Well done!

  2. QUESTION……Linda, you share so many useful tips! Would you please share your most effective method for removing the candles from the jars?? I love your repurposed green flower jar and have several whose color I love, but haven't been used because the fragrance is off-putting. It would be wonderful if I could fill them with the beautiful flowers from my garden!

  3. I love the idea of repurposing the whiskey bottles as candleholders. They’d be pretty with some coarse sand or beach glass inside to add more interest. The patio is lovely. Cheers!

  4. Gesundheit Stewart! Linda I love your ideas for up cycling the bottles! The cottage is looking great with all your landscaping and I can’t wait to see all the special touches you will place in your new gardens! 😍

  5. I am not a fan of mixing brick with the blue stone for my eye it is too busy looking it is one or the other for me . I like neat and tidy but that is not for everyone we all have our own styles. I do love boxwood and greenery that is looking good.

  6. Hi Linda-new subscriber here. I'm loving what I'm seeing so far…have a question, what was that cute fluffy thing sitting in the chair??

  7. I'm sure you know this already Linda, but make sure that those foundation plantings aren't too close to the house.(No closer than two feet). It can undermine your foundation (due to frequent watering) encourage pests etc.
The video didn't show how much room there was between the front patio edge and the foundation. Container plantings are of course great for this as they can be moved easily.
I made this mistake at my house and now some of the plantings will be very hard to dig up and move because they have grown so much.
I love your enthusiasm and energy. Wish I had your planting zone.

  8. Interesting, I bought a garden bench from Plow and Hearth that same color. We put it together, yesterday. I love it so much, I have the feeling this green will become my favorite color, for this year!
