Wouldn’t rollercoasters be better if you could optionally choose to have the car disconnect from the track? More freedom? More exilleration? Um… no. The extent of fun you can experience is directly dependant on the ability to stay safely connected to the designed path.
In Exodus 20, God provides some guardrails that serve as the high-level guiding principles of all the other laws he would provide, in order to provide for a safe and enjoyable life for His people that honours and aligns with His own good character.
