  1. to see more Hiigaran culture/society play Cataclysm (or its remaster mods) you play as a small civilian group not 'the big mothership'

the Hiigaran/Kushan were exiled as a ploy to make them give up the second hyperspace core to the Bentusi. It was exile or annihilation.

Deserts of Kharak you did not play as Karen S'jet but Rachel S'jet an ancestor of Karen. between Homeworld 1 and Homeworld 2 was 115 years.

  2. Shame that 'Homeworld: Cataclysm' was not included with this. It was a really cool spin-off. I guess the source code was lost. I hear that there might be something off with the collections balance, as they remade the first game with the engine of the second. Certain tactics might not work anymore, such as salvaging a ton of enemies, as the computer always scales based off of the players forces at the end of a map. This leads to some very counter intuitive tactics, such as scrapping the entire fleet before hyperjumps instead of docking, in order to keep the scale of the adversary in the next mission as small as possible. I love the lore and radio chatter in this, though. Deserts of Kharrak was top notch 👍

  3. targeting sub-systems was definitely not a thing in homeworld 1, and I'm hyped to see it in homeworld 2, so nice! 😀

PS: OOooooooh, and boarding tactics too! I'm loving what they are putting on the table.

  4. Just a note for those who want to play the campaign.
This game has adaptive difficulty. The more ally vessels you have at the start of a mission. The higher the difficulty (number of enemies and AI complexity).
Note, that doesn't mean that you can't get stuck in a death loop because of insufficient resource.(there is a base difficulty to each level)

Also note that because of this mechanic, you can cheese the game by deconstructing all your vessel before the wrap and reconstructing them at the start of the mission.

  5. There's not a novelization, but there IS a tabletop RPG, published by Modiphius. It's their 2d20 system which is pretty solid and it has a lot of information about the setting.

  6. The reason as to why you can’t capture the enemy carrier is because they were mission objectives but you could capture them later on, you can’t produce enemy ship with captured carrier they only serve as slow repair bay and they don’t benefit from upgrade it’s actually better just to scarp them.

  7. this is from my experience playing the campaign, build bomers and strikecraft, you going to need them, A LOT.
Also here a tip, I put all my rss collectors and rss controllers in 1 control group, groupe 10, so ctrl 0, is easyer that way, at least for me
Also also, get collectors and mobile, you will need them

  8. Around 40min you were wondering about an active pause. There was one back in the day and I assume this version retained it. Not sure about the key though. Either one of the F keys or the pause key. I remember it not being convenient 😀
Wouldn't have survived playing this and Nexus – TJI without active pause. Especially the latter 😀
