Fountain Pen Day 2023 Inkquiring Minds Live Stream

Welcome to my very first LIVE STREAM for Inkquiring Minds! This is a REBROADCAST of the Fountain Pen Day livestream. I’ve edited out all of the long pauses, but it is still a very long video. We chatted about many subjects for an hour and a half. Feel free to use the chapter feature to skip ahead to the various topics.

I will have another livestream on Friday December 1, 2023. The topic will be “What do you want for (insert lucrative gift-giving season name of your choice here).”

  1. Marilyn brought up a legitimate question; why can't we request a certain pattern or color in a resin? I've started doing it. Whether my request is even noted; I don't know, but I try. Jet Pens is one company that did notice and they sent me photos to approve. Thank you, Jet Pens. I also made a request from Atlas Stationers and though they didn't respond via email or photos to my request, I got a lovely pen from them that met my expectations. I have received resin pens; from other companies; that I was bummed out about.

  2. I missed the live feed, but I very much agree the shipping and tax are ridiculous, that stops me in my tracks from ordering from a company that is well known in Canada due to the word "Carousel" in the phrase. I was up for something free. But it is not free when they tack on the shipping. Yowee!!!!

  3. Doug, Sorry I missed the live feed but I still get to watch you! For FPD I ordered an EF, F, and M Asvine P50(s) in yellow, brown, and red marble. That's what I get for watching Chris's review. I took his suggestion & ordered from Amazon… because I couldn't wait… but I will celebrate on Monday when they arrive!

  5. I'm glad I was able to watch this rebroadcast, pretty good for the first ever effort!! Oh, the Sheaffer Tip Dip Touchdown filler is doing fine and I'm enjoying the writing experience with it since it arrived. For FPD 2023 I had looked on Endless Pens site. I never thought I'd be interested in another Pelikan beyond the 400 & the Gray Marbled M200 I now have. They had the Copper with Rose Gold trim, but I'm not much one for copper pens, however, they had an M200 Marbled Brown with a Broad nib I just couldn't pass up for a price under $90 US. I'm really surprising myself with how much I'm getting into the larger nib sizes. And for something else to try, I ordered a Sailor High-Ace Neo 1.0 mm Stub. That will actually be my first Sailor fountain pen (the Hocoro doesn't count). I'm looking forward to 1 Dec.

  6. Awesome show professor. Unfortunately, I missed the show, but I'm catching up! I can set you up with the Pelikan you are after 🙂 I happen to have two of them.

  7. Happy FPD, fellow Canadians. If we get Doodlebud, and Pens & Tea here, we can have a Canadian fountain pen Shindig. Hope everyone got their wishlist fulfilled. Hope you enjoyed FPD 2023, Doug.

  8. Great idea with the live videos.I am a regular watcher but was out of the country when this went live but glad I could see the recorded version. Very enjoyable. I have scheduled Dec 1 for the next one. Perhaps suggestions from viewers about their favorite nib masters. I am a believer in custom grinds and have 3 Pelikan 800’s with cursive grinds and my MB 149 also. Many people don’t know where to go, what to expect for cost, timing etc. just sayin…

  9. I agree, Doug. Went for the upgrade @ Goulet Pens, with the Asagao full bottle for $45 USD, my first Iroshizuku. Blesket had 20% off too, so I pulled the trigger on the Blue Legacy carriage to help draw ink from their bottles with some sturdy legs to prevent an ink disaster.
