Fly Fishing British Columbia's British Columbia Bull River in August [Episode # 58]

In this episode we are fly fishing for trout. It is a warm and windy August day and we use a variety of dry flies to catch and release some surprisingly big Cutthroats. We hiked in to this very scenic stretch of river. The hike features climbing a sizable hill and the overlook to the river was worth the effort. Getting to the river in the early afternoon the wind had picked up and we saw a few hoppers out so we decided to start with a Morrish Hopper. It worked fairly well but we kept switching between that fly and a Fat Black Albert and even an Orange stimulator. All caught a few fish. Then in the late afternoon Mayflies started to hatch, so we switched to an Adams and continued with success. We were not expecting to catch Cutthroats as big as we did. A nice bonus to a good day in the outdoors.

Fly Fishing with Ladin’s primary purpose is to share fly fishing techniques and places to fly fish in the Western United States. We are a dedicated fly fishing YouTube channel promoting catch and release fly fishing. Our motto is having fun catching and releasing fish. We want to share our passion with others. We are not professionals. We are passionate about fly fishing but we do not take ourselves to seriously. We show our mistakes, falling in, getting flies stuck in wrong places, loosing fish. The same things that all of us experience fly fishing. We have been fly fishing northwest waters for over forty years. But we are always learning new things that we like to pass along. We think our channel is a great place to get ideas for fly fishing vacations and weekend trips.

  1. Sadly I did not make it there last year but I have plans to be there in 25. Last time I was there I did see a Grizz not too far up stream from where you are. Keeps ya on your toes. It's a beautiful river, can wait to get back.
