  1. Yesss, it’s not just me who observes the 2 second rule when driving behind someone, and increasing it by 1/2 seconds aswell. Also cuts down on stone chips on the front of your car😁👍🏻

Roads and views looked amazing 😎

  2. I think it might be time to move the Alfa and VVI on. You have brought them back from the brink. The Tourer needs doing and we'd love the see the V8 P6 and W123 get some love. As for you modern Merc, I'm on my second Mazda 6 estate. Love them, less fussy inside and great to drive.

  3. I worked as a Mercedes salesman for a number of years in the early noughties. Sold shed loads of C Classes, mostly diesel of course, but only one of them was manual and I have to say after driving it for the first time that it had the most agricultural, clunkiest gear change I have ever experienced !! Just awful ! Couldn’t wait to get back in my automatic C Class demonstrator for a relaxing commute home.

Just can’t understand your hatred of autos. Modern 8 speed boxes are so much more efficient than ever before and much more responsive. They take the drudge out of nose to tail urban driving and minimise driver fatigue especially at the end of a busy, stressful day.

Wouldn’t go back to a manual if you paid me !

  4. Swap hippo for the 200VI and you'd have my 4 favourites from the Furious Fleet in the one place. The Volvo, Y reg Mini and Tomcat are brilliant.

You're totally right about the original Ka too. I could not believe how well it handled when I drove one. It was the 1.3 bottom of the range and just brilliant

  5. Does the C class not have paddle shift on the wheel?; for the type of arduous driving you experienced use these most of the time in sport (even if not going fast), this ensures quicker shifting – comfort or eco just won't work the way you expect. Other sluggish shifting may be cured by a couple of transmission services as, even if not considered to be required.

  6. Another great video! Do love a fleet round up. How about trading the Mercedes for a manual, retro, (post 2002ish), Euro 4 petrol estate. Cheap to buy, will scratch your car itch and ULEZ compliant. V70?

  7. Good to see some snippets of Italy , and hear you had a great time.
    Love a European road trip , 1995 to Czech in a Cavalier 130SRi and 2015 to Spain in a W211 E270CDi.
Attempted Italy in an Italian car in 1997 but the X1/9 didn't make it past Bruges and we ended up driving to Turin an a brand new Citroen hire car courtesy of our holiday insurance.

  8. If the rest of the Mercedes is perfect for family and daily drive duties, then surely the auto gearbox is something that can be compromised – given the fact you have other vehicles to satify your enthusiast needs? I remember going on roads like the Stelvio Pass as a kid, they weren't fun for those in the back or with my mum telling my dad to 'slow down' and shrieking in terror that we might go off the side of a cliff! As a driver now, of course they're great – but you need the right car and only passengers that appreciate that kind of experience!
