  1. Fisher Tiger is one of my favorite characters in all of One Piece, for the reasons that you said. He isn't this perfect faultless man who never wavers and loves all humans. He can't deny or completely reject the part of him that hates them, no matter how much he wants to, and wishes for the next generation to be better than him and hold no hate in their hearts.

  2. This… These episodes just hurt you know? I look at them and think "I could never be as good or kind as these people." Seeing the queen desperately beg her people to reconsider, seeing Tiger go above and beyond to prove they can be better…. I could never. Dont get me wrong, I believe in peace and change and all that, but I believe just as much in the fact that some people are too far gone. That some people, like Arlong or the Celestial dragons, would be better off put down like rabid dogs for the safety of everyone else. Thankfully this belief only applies to fiction where the "clearly can't be saved" group is made obvious by how uncaring and limitless their despicable actions are and clear 2d level villainy. Simply put, put me in front of Hordy, or the b**** who shot Haachan, with a gun and a clear shot? I think I'd take it. And in doing so would make myself as bad as them but I can live with that. If the monsters get thinned out I'm okay with being one of them. Or at least I think I am. Honestly, push comes to shove, I'd probably chicken out.

  3. Fisher Tigers backstory alone elevates this arc imo. Fishman island arc as a whole, is mostly to showoff the strawhats strength after 2 years of training, but that, along with Fisher Tiger's backstory still makes this arc fun for me.

Tiger is a person who wants fishmen and humans to live in peace and accept eachother. He knows there are many good humans out there, but thanks to all his suffering he also truly hates humans and cannot accept them. He knows he is wrong for thinking like that, but the hatred for humans is deep within his core. He is such an amazing character cause he truly wants peace between humans and fishmen but also hates humans at the same time.

Jinbei and Arlong, two people who obviously looked up to Tiger and respect him a lot, ended up sort of inheriting the two sides of Tiger's will. Jinbei inherited Tiger's desire to create peace between humans and fishmen, whereas Arlong inherited Tigers hatred of humans, I mean he already did, but what happened to Tiger just solidified the hatred he had.

And then Hody comes and inherits a twisted version of Arlong's will. While Arlong hated humans, he would never sacrifice his own fishmen. Hody on the other hand hates humans but also would gladly kill his own fishmen to achieve his goals. Even using his own men as meatshields when needed.

  4. Stuff like this is why I'll never understand why Fishman island is seen as "bad' by the community. Maybe I'm bias because Im black and can understand the racial aspect of it but its genuinely good story telling for anybody. I'll also be the first to say it Hordy Jones is a good character/villain and I'll defend this to the grave.
