  1. My kids (British) know baseball because I'm a Dodger. I have been since I could walk. The dad here gets under my skin because you don't teach kids to catch by " just move your glove in front of the ball"🙄 …."I'm going throw it at your shoulder and just reach at it and block it." Then….. "here's how a glove works, now, open it and grab it."

  2. I loved this movie as a kid and only recently watched it for the first time in, like, 20 years. Benny is such a great character!

Also, I swear when I was a kid this movie was called ‘The Sandlot Kids’.

  3. 26:07: And that's why it's a modern classic. Aside from all the great stuff with the boys just bonding and being adventurous, at the end, you have this great lesson about preconceptions, and how sometimes if you're just honest and communicate openly, everything works out. Even all the way that the beginning, if Smalls hadn't been so afraid of being ridiculed for not knowing "The Great Bambino," if the other kids had just realized he knows little about baseball and explained things to him, everything could have been avoided because he would have known the significance of the "Babe Ruth" signature. Meet everyone with openness and understanding, and maybe something wonderful will happen.

  5. As it is baseball season and you're doing baseball movies, if you haven't seen Field Of Dreams you might consider that one. I think you'd love it, and if you think this one made you emotional… oh boy.

  6. I’m in my 60’s and this is EXACTLY what growing up in the 1970’s was like. We had a Benny, a Ham, and even had a kid who didn’t play but was obsessed with sportscasters and did the play by play for us complete with simulated crowd noise. We met up every Saturday after cartoons.

  7. Benny was one hell of a ball player. I dont know if anyone knows how difficult it would be for Benny to hit a fly ball into Smalls' glove. I dont care if you're lobbing it to yourself or not, that would be incredibly difficult to do.
