  1. I went to watch this movie in theaters and I had no idea what this was about, till this day I can’t bring myself to watch the opening of this film. I screamed and cried because the little boy(Georgie) looks just like my son. And even if he didn’t that scene is the scariest thing I have ever witnessed.
I have been enjoying your videos, new subscriber. 🩷

  2. With telegraphing like that, it's sad that Georgie was only two days from retirement.

While it misses some nuance of the book(which is great, but I will admit is extremely long), this is the best adaptation. The Tim Curry one is okay, but they had to tone it down a lot. I mean, not everything from the novel could be included(let us never speak of THAT scene)but some of it would have been nice.

Some info and fun facts from the book(don't read if you're gonna read the book!:

The kids have abilities in the book and the power to hurt Pennywise through their imagination. This is given to them by "the Other"(not exactly said what this spirit is)and they're also given support by the Turtle, a benevolent, but lazy power(who's tied to Stephen Kings wider universe)and the opposite of Pennywise(there are a few references to the Turtle in this movie, such as the kids noticing one at the Quarry and the Lego Turtle from Georgies room). The imagination part is only brought up once in this movie, when Bill fires the empty Bolt pistol, imagining it to be loaded and therefore able to hurt Pennywise with it.

Pennywise changes his eye colour to match Bill's and Georgie's mothers to lure Georgie in.

Book version of Bill knows Georgie is dead, as he isn't dragged away, he just has his arm torn away by It and dies of blood loss and shock(after seeing Pennywise's real face and going insane).

Ironically, Mikes parents are still alive in the book and, aside from Richie's and Stans, they're the only parents that are good out of the Losers Club.

The Standpipe(which Ben passes by on his bike later in the movie, is on the postcard and is Ben's diorama)was where some kids drowned in the book(and the first appearance of Pennywise to Stan).

Bill's parents never get better after Georgie dies and neglect Bill for the rest of his life.

Each of Pennywise's awakenings(as said by Ben from his research)are preceded by horrible events. The Easter Factory Explosion was one(if you look in the pictures of the book, you can see Pennywise is there before the event(and you can see the Librarian standing and grinning in the background), the Black Spot Fire is another(which was a black nightclub that was started by Mikes dad and a few friends from the war that was burned by the Derry branch of(pretty much)the KKK(and Mikes dad and several others only survived because of Dick Hallorann(yes, the Cook from "the Shining"), the Bradley Gang being gunned down by the locals of Derry(you see a painted mural of it on the wall behind Ben when the group are helping him after he was slashed up by Bowers and, in between shots, you can see Pennywise's face appear, meaning he's watching the group)and others.

The town is ignorant of Pennywise and can't perceive him unless he wants to be, which is why the adults don't do anything when Ben is being assaulted.

Patrick Hockstetter is the worst in the book. Way worse than Henry, if thats even possible. He murders his baby brother in the crib, traps pets in an old fridge and suffocates them.Pennywise can't even figure out what to appear as to him because Hockstetter is not afraid of normal things. Of course, when Pennywise finds a form that frightens him, he kills him(that of Flying Leeches).

Beverley's dad is physically abusive in the book, but its only suggested at one point that he's sexually attracted to Beverley, and thats when Pennwise possesses and works through him to try to attack her. The book leaves it up to you if he was truly that way.

Looking forward to Chapter 2! One group of Reactors watched the first, but not the second, and thats not cool!

  3. Pennywise is a demon, they dont have backstories ❤ in the book it’s more clear, but the demons presens in town affects the adults, so that is why they are acting so strange.. i hope you watch chapter 2

    Love your reaction!

  4. Much better than the 1990 miniseries to me. As much as I enjoy Tim Curry, the kids in this version make it far superior. They are phenomenal, particularly Eddie ("They're gazebos!" 🤣🤣🤣) and Bev (Sophia Lillis has been great in everything I've seen her in).
In a story about childhood fear, you have to have great kid actors and they all are fantastic.

  5. "That's why I love myself and my ability to be afraid." This is so me for real lol. Every time I watch a scary movie where people stick around to investigate stuff I'm like "Nope. Could NOT be me." I don't normally like horror films but I love this movie for the relationship between the friends.

  6. I think the question "I don't know why IT is" is exactly what IT is all about, and why it is subconsciously so scary.

We humans wants to have all the answers to all our questions, and when there is non, we often insert our own fantasy to explain it.

An animal is scary, becouse we know that it can kill you, but you don't know if it is scared of you too, and by making a wrong move would provoke it to attack.

A monster that could kill you, but refuses to do it, is scary, becouse you don't know why it is doing it. Why would it make such an effort to emotionaly hurt you? It is scary, becouse it operates with motives that we cannot understand and can not comprehend.

By explaining and give away the anser to why a monster does what it does removes the scare and the fear of the unknown. Its like a magic trick. You can watch it 100 times and be amazed every time, but by learning the trick for yourself and watching it again, you lose the sense of wonder it once gave you. This, I think, is what separates a good writer from a great writer. To not explain everything, and leave enough for everyone to understand to figure out for themselves, or form there own interpretation.

  7. No. Pennywise wasn't maltreated. It's an immortal evil spirit that has always been there. It feeds on fear. It goes into hibernation for decades and comes back when it needs to feed again. It's just a thing that likes to destroy.

  8. To be honest I laughed my butt off at this movie, kind of more than the sequel (which in some moments was intentionally more comedic). Pennywise is just so much fun. He's a man that thoroughly enjoys what he does and I honestly can't put him down for that.

But in general, I tend to laugh at a lot of horror movies because a lot of the time I can't take them seriously. Sometimes characters make decisions that defy all logic or reason. Sometimes the horrific entity just looks or acts too weird for me to be scared. Sometimes they look amazing and I'm far more intrigued than scared (The Thing is a good example of that).

The latest horror movie that actually shook me in years was Hereditary, and only a couple moments. I still laughed at some of it. Though I will say that if you get through stuff like Hereditary, The Exorcist, The Thing and Event Horizon, you're actually set for most horror except stuff made entirely for shock value.

  9. I was so skeptical when I heard this movie was being remade (I watched the original TV miniseries And read the book) and couldn't imagine them doing it justice. Boy, I am so glad I was wrong! They really nailed it!

  10. I read the book (damn good) and it explains a lot. Where IT came from etc. I remember back then all us kids watching the original (we were too young for that 😅) and couldn't sleep for weeks 😂

  11. It targets children because it loves how fear "salts the meat," and childrens' fears are much easier to manifest. It does target adults from time to time, but It usually just keeps them from noticing what's going on. They never get into it, but the turtles you keep seeing are signs that Maturin is watching over them. In the book, he's a cosmic turtle and It's opposite. Maturin helps them defeat It. The lights the you see are the Deadlights, complicated but basically they are close to It's true form as humans can understand.

  12. I'd love to see a cartoon drawing of you going up to Pennywise, saying "What is your problem in life?!", I grew up knowing about Pennywise and this is the funniest concept art ever for that terrible creature lol

  13. You do know Chapter 2 is necessary to watch if you watched Part 1, right? Lol! That’s like watching Hunger Games with no intentions of watching the next 3 films behind it😂😂😂

  14. I hope your Patreons have you watch the movie Sinister!!! It's a popular watch for Halloween. Honestly the channels that react to horror year around are my favorite. You get such an extreme emotional response from someone and that's what I'm here for.

  15. The beauty of this story is that the power of friendship made them stronger and in the end that allowed them to face their fears and stand up to Pennywise. I really don't know why people keep choosing the most scary of the movies for you to watch, I love horror movies and not much scares me anymore but this one did. They should have chosen the miniseries of IT from the 90's yes it was also scary but not as bad as this given how they didn't have the advanced special effects that we have now. Love all the actors here and Bill who plays Pennywise is amazing as him. Pennywise isn't a demon he's an alien for lack of a better word…IT was created before the universe and is the darkness that feeds on fear. It goes after kids because they are at the age that they are easily scared by things and the clown is because most kids are scared of them. The grownups don't see the things IT does because Pennywise makes sure of that and in many ways It runs the town but also brings out the worse in people as well and when It can't scare someone It uses those who are agressive and makes them even more so in order to have them spread the fear for IT. The book explians a lot more about what Pennywise is and also yes in the book silver was the way to stop It but not because of it being made out of silver but because they all beleived that the silver was the way to kill IT and that belief made them stronger and less afraid to face IT. You can stop here no need to see the second part of this cause this movie is good the way it is and scary enough as well. Grate reaction as always.

  16. You should check out It Chapter 2. It is the continuation of this film. It Chapter One features them as kids and Chapter Two features them as adults fighting Pennywise. The 1990 miniseries featured Tim Curry who a comedic version of Pennywise. Bill Skarsgard took Pennywise to another level. He brought out the scary version of Pennywise. His performance was excellent.
