  1. Ohio girl here, my go to seasoning for hashbrowns is Lawry's seasoning salt, pepper, garlic and onion. You could have thrown some of that Slap your mama seasoning in there for an added kick. I like to put a little ketchup on mine. I love your not a cooking show videos.

  2. Recky and Carol, the things you can add to the hashbrowns while they are cooking are amazing; ham, cheese, bell peppers, jalapeno chilies, shrimp, mushrooms, salsa, sausage, kielbasa, other meats and so on.

  3. Add coffee, orange juice, toast or pancakes, and you have classic American breakfast. I add diced sausage, diced onions, diced peppers, salt, pepper, garlic powder to the potatoes. Diced bacon or ham also works. I also add eggs when the potatoes are done and scrambled them. Cheddar cheese is also a must.

  4. Recky, what you were thinking of is a pancake. Whenever I make hashbrowns, I finish cooking by adding a bit of butter to help brown the potatoes. Potato pancakes are really good, but you'd have to find a recipe.

  5. You know all that sausage gravy you have and wanted to know what else to do with it? Well it tastes amazing over breakfast potatoes!! Give it a try on those hash browns 🙂

  6. RELAX. Just cook what's in the box, a little salt and pepper to taste. But a little crispy is good. I always either sprinkle some graded cheese or I put country gravy over mine.

  7. Sometimes when I try a new recipe I go to YouTube and watch a video (or 2 or 3) showing how some people prepare the food. If you know what your going to make do a quick review. It helps if you know what it is going to look like when you finish. Its not cheating because you still have to make it yourself… 😋

  8. Don't move the hash browns after you put them in the pan and wait until you see the color around the edges and then flip them like pancakes and you will have perfectly crispy hash browns.

  9. Add chopped peanuts cookie crumbles Reese's pieces or cups. You could add Reese's pieces and marshmallows and crumbled Graham crackers and make it a cold summer s'mores. They will stick in the magic shell and it's amazing. Your additions are left to your imagination. Please do at least 1 more magic shell video with you adding your personal ingredients. It would be interesting to see what you would each choose as your added ingredients.

  10. Cooking Tips:
That box of HashBrowns are dehydrated potatoes. They can sit on a shelf in the cupboard for months without going bad. Fresh potatoes taste better, but these taste pretty good actually, when cooked right.

If your shredded potatoes are too wet (moist) they will steam in the pan instead or crisping up. Dry the potatoes before cooking them… both fresh and boxed. Do not squash the potato shreds… pat them dry. Kitchen or a paper towel work great.

Season as you like. Most people go savory, but don’t be afraid to try sweet as well. Sugar and cinnamon… mmmm

Let them sit cooking in the oil, without touching them, until the bottom is golden brown… give them time. You can make them into Pattie’s about 1/4 inch (6.35mm) thick, and not to big to make them hard to flip.

Just remember that you are frying the potatoes and not steaming them.

Enjoy… make them with whatever flavors you like.

  11. With the hash browns you want to let them sit for the 6 minutes until they start to get brown around the edges to get them crispy, then you stir them. You can add pretty much anything to them. Whatever you like. I have a friend that puts chilli over the top of them.

  12. I would have done this only a little bit different. Fry the bacon, then add a bit of olive oil to the bacon grease to fry the hash a bit. Then you add some chopped red or spring onions plus red and green peppers or spinach and add the eggs to make one big hash brown omelet. Flip it after a few minutes and add shredded cheese on top so the eggs finish cooking and the cheese melts. Divide in half and crumble the bacon on top of the cheese. Done and yum! 😁👍

  13. Love when Recky does the American southern accent A lot of diners in America usually have a
bottle of Tabasco hot sauce which really flavors a breakfast plate IMO .

You guys think your algorithm is bad ? I posted some old songs from Punk band I was in
a long time ago and after 13 years the highest view is 64 on one of them . I do not know how
to promote at all . 🙄

  14. Hello Carol and Recky. I do think that your visit may be less expensive than most peoples trip, as I think you will have people anywhere you go that will love to feed you their favorite american food. Maybe Recky needs safety glasses when cooking bacon, I would hare to see him as a pirate with an eye patch! 😂 Peace. PS. Hashbrowns can be either stirred of left as cakes so that the middle is hot and soft, if they are not burnt, you did them just right! Love you!!
