  1. You seem to really enjoy the production aspects of the videos as much as the music. If you’re interested in a couple of their videos that have more of a storyline in the videos I would recommend their cover of Papaoutai and a collaboration they did with Todrick Hall called The Wizard of Ahhs.

  2. Welcome to the wonderful rabbit hole known as pentatonix….First.. So, some things to know about this cover and video: -It took PTX years to get the arrangement to where they felt they could do the original masterpiece justice. -The cover, and especially the video, was meant to be an homage to Queen. Some of the moments paying respect were: The mono-recording of the line "easy come, easy go" followed by the panning of the voices from left to right on the line "little high, little low" (which is how the original was recorded), obviously the flashlights being used to mimic the lighting on the operatic part of the original video, the four shooting stars to represent the four members of Queen, as well as acknowledge the fact that Dr. Brian May is an astrophysicist, and the overhead shot of them lying on the couch is to represent the Sheer Heart Attack album cover. -The megaphone was just a prop. It is not needed to reproduce the electric guitar distortion. -PTX can, and does, perform this live with no backing track…something even Queen and the Great Freddie Mercury could not do. -Freddy once said he didn't care what people did with his music as long as they "…don't make it boring, darling!", so I think he would absolutely approve. -The overall video–with the "living room" and couch–is an homage to Pentatonix's own journey as a group. They lost their record deal right after winning the Sing Off and moving to LA, so they started putting out videos on YouTube, performing covers. They would sit on the couch in Kevin (beatboxer) and Avi's (bass) living room and just record themselves on Mitch's (counter tenor who took the lead on this song) iPad. Some of their earliest videos went viral and they eventually were able to secure a new deal, record an EP, go on tour, release chart-topping albums and win three Grammy awards…so they moved out of the living room and down this new, unknown road. At the end of the day, though, they're still the same choir-nerds they've always been; just happy to sit together on a couch and sing. Also when brian mays of queen heard this he posted the video on his web site with the word…"ENJOY"…..NOW ABOUT PENTATONIX……..They won the 2011 sing off and took off from there. They've won 3 grammys for daft punk, dance of the sugar plum fairies, and jolene w/ dolly parton all 3 are highly recomended. There are so many videos in their catalog…way too many to list but I will endevor to give you some choices for future reactions. some covers are Bohemian rhapsody (quite simply the finest cover of that classic rock song), wizard of ahhhs ( a collection of 17 pop songs arranged to tell the classic story of wizard of oz), mad world, the prayer, royals, carol of the bells, say something, radioactive, can you feel the love tonite, problem, evelotion of music, little drummer boy, my favorite things, 12 days of christmas, god rest ye merry gentlemen, and so many more….some originals include…sing, happy now, love me when u dont, coffee in bed, be my eyes, never gonna cry again, the lucky ones…..during the height of the pandemic….they released an album called "at home" (completely recorded in their own homes seperately and then mixed…..songs include…home, blinding lights, when the party's over, dreams, break my heart. Please do more pentatonix reactions. You may run into issues with the video being blocked…just put some sort of filter on the video…we really care about the music. As you do more pentatonix reactions more people will subscribe to your channel as us fans of pentatonix called pentaholics luv seeing people react to their extensive library of videos. Have a blessed day.

  5. PTX loves being unpredictable! Just when you think you have them figured out, or anticipate what will happen next, that's when they they throw a curve. Creativity backed by superb talent, that's our Pentatonix. Terrific reaction!

  6. I love your honest reaction and your insightful breakdown of the video production. This one doesn't look complicated but you know, as a music producer, that it is. Also it was fun seeing your face when they panned back and forth on "little high, little low" and then a minute later when Avi's bass kicked in and I knew exactly what you were hearing and why you were reacting the way you were. I subscribed for Pentatonix and I thank you for continuing to react to them. Cheers!

  8. Know how you feel, I really only got into PTX over the last 3 years, and am constantly amazed at what they do. I knew of them, had no idea, no idea. I Have come to love them and their performances , just outstanding. Finally got to go to a live this past year at the Evergreen tour and just what you see you get, I was stunned at how they sound live. If you haven't, do their Popspring 2016 for a great live reference, or Christmas Under the Stars last year or The afore mentioned Evergreen.

  9. I am looking forward to the journey. Every song from them seams like their best, until you hear the next one and so on and so on. It does not matter in what order, newer or older or all mixed up. There is not one bad apple (song) in the barrel.

  10. And we are just entering Pentatonix season, when we have the proper time to enjoy the PTX versions of all the holiday songs that have grown stale with overuse. They manage to put new life into Christmas music.

  11. For me, it's the incredible level of talent and skill that makes me emotional, not always the lyrics. Although that can send me over the edge often too. LOL I love how deeply you feel music. Rock on!

  13. While I really appreciated your comments with PTX music, and I subscribed, tho see you have quite a few reactions for PTX but the only way I can appreciate your take on them is to pay for a monthly subscription is super disappointing.

  15. I think you should switch to their Christmas music for this season since they are more known for that. They tour almost every holiday season! And those arrangements will blow you away just as much.

  16. Surprisingly I didn't see a comment that shares that the megaphone is just a prop – he recreates the guitar in live performances with just his voice. And, since you are interested in the performance aspect of things, there is a behind the scenes video of the making of this video – it took place in a parking lot through a whole night and it was COLD, you can see their breath a couple times in the video if you know to look. Their work ethic is clear. Second the rec for Sound of Silence – it's with Matt, their bass since 2017/18. And with the holiday season coming up, it'll be fun to dive into their extensive holiday catalog – as usual, you'll be blown away – and they do have some original holiday songs too. Look forward to more reactions because I love your enthusiasm and insightful comments.

  17. Another Pentatonix song that many reactors have to take breaks during is The Prayer, originally by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, the Italian opera singer. It's also only a year old so shows the major growth of the band's voices.

  18. Since I haven't seen anyone else mention this, the megaphone, is just a prop for the video, when they do this live, Mitch only uses the microphone, and sounds identical, every bit of the guitar is his voice, no enhancements.

  19. The Grassi Guitar does not require a megaphone. It is just a prop to draw attention to who is making the sound. I heard it done live and it was EPIC.
Mitch might be the reincarnation of Freddie Mercury. Freddie died in November 1991 and Mitch was born in July 1992. He can also grow the Freddie mustache. It is so close to matching it is kinda creepy.

  20. Sorry, but this song may be iconic, but I've always disliked it until I somehow forced myself to listen to PTX's version as I had seen many of their other videos and really liked them. Now I have watched it many many times and like their version a whole lot more than Queen's version. I'm not a Queen's fan, but definitely a PTX fan. Glad you liked it.

  21. You might also want to check out Coldest Winter from one of their Christmas albums! Mitch is sooo good! I also recommend Love Again, which is an original, as well as their cover of Gold by Kiiara. They definitely have a way of pulling emotions out of you with their songs. Thanks for the reactions!
