The Blood Angels are vampiric by design … The Red Thirst is part of their make up … Sangiunius was a Psykicly gifted he had visions of the future … like Konrad but without the madness … when he died it created a psychic backlash that broke broke the geneseede since the Primarchs are partly warp based … and caused the Black Rage … that as they degrade because of the thirst they start to hallucinate about being Sanguinius facing Horus ….

  4. Going off of what you brought up about gold being less prized due to its abundance outside of Earth; I believe it serves a more religious and cultural meaning in 40k.

    The God Emperor wore golden armor and had his palace decorated with immense amounts of gold simply because it looked nice. Because of that and the fact that the Emperor's personal guard, the Adeptus Custodes, wear golden armor as well, I believe gold is still considered valuable in the 41st millennium due to its relation to the Emperor and Custodes.
