  1. The 1HZ is to me the most amazingly satisfying engine that connects me to the original FJ45 I learnt to drive on and love as a boy in Zululand. Tough as nails, smooth and utterly dependable. It reminds me of the Geländewagen 5 cylinder 300 diesel engine and the Range Rover v8 3.5l engines. Rumbly, strong, dependabe and highy satisfying to drive. My dad aso used a Chevrolet C10 4.1 straight six 2wd pckup which was alo very satisfying to drive because of that sily smoot torquey engine and superb comfort. The 4 cylinder seems rough and weeny in my humbe opinion. Sti a great vehice though, well done.

  2. So much of what you say, we all knew even though we have not even seen the new 4cyl. My Prado is practical and does the job, but just driving the V8 to the supermarket is a glorious adventure .

  3. You need to use your "engineers" accent more often. It's definitely more relateable to driving a well built 4wd off road than your birth English accent that's better suited to politely eating cucumber sandwiches and strawberries and cream at the Wimbledon tennis.

  4. What's happening with diesel 4WD's from 2025 onwards?
There is talk that our controlling, nanny government wants to phase out Diesels.
Is the WEF dictating the elimination of diesel 4WD's to combat "çlimate change"?
Apparently that fact that people like Klaus Schwab are flying around in private jets has nothing to do with this issue… we're told it's for the common good!
Not OK for you, but ok for us! 😆😂🤣

  5. Why have these vehicles still got pre-historic leaf spring suspension on the rear?
The G-Wagons have coils and the extremely heavy duty Unimog's have coils!
Why has Toyota not fixed the two different width wheel track issues… the front wheels are much wider than the rear?
How did this mess pass Australian auto safety standards ?????
Toyota can do much better !!!!!

  6. Just a thought on Automatics. They’re self learning and get better with driving and it’s better to DRIVE them. Don’t be too gentle, don’t be too hard on it’s they’ll generate a good tune.

  7. Cut a hole in the dash cover. Looks like the 2.8 is the death of the v8 sadly. I guess the only problem is all the added tech and it will be interesting to see the longevity of the 2.8. Yes i know its in the hilux but in this platform with weight and gearing

    FYI
I sound proofed my 1998 Jimny using asphalt/bitumen sound proofing. Small asphalt mats on the inside of any vibrating metal surface stopped the vibration and made the car close to as silent a Rolls Royce.

  9. Regarding the Spotlights …

To my understanding I have the same issue in my 2022 Jimny, i.e., a CANBUS system.

Thanks to knowledgeable people I have more than 10 spotties connected to the original high beams.

    – Let me know if you are interested in my solution (no warranty issues).

  10. Not knowing the auto I agree that the auto is easier/better at most off-road situations.
    – That’s why I got a manual, as it will demand way more of me as a driver, which I prefer.
