  1. 2 discs, 2 timelines? That'd be a good way to do it, but I think the reality will be more.. linear.
What I really want to know though is.. why always such a low camera angle on the chocobo riding shots? Oversexualisation of chocobos is what it is. Outrageous.

  2. I'm getting the impression that even the FF devs needed a break from the BS that is seemingly incoming. FF16 must have been a bliss for them… Milking figures and fan-fiction from this point on. I don't see how you can enter any form of character development in such convoluted mess where anything can happen at any moment for any reason or without any reason other than FF hating their fan-base for trapping them in their previous success… We'll see.

  3. Loved this Aofie!

So many questions from this trailer and it sucks it’s been delayed (but understandable with how big it’s going to be)

But my god it’s looking good, I know a few fans aren’t keen on the new direction it’s taking but I’m honestly okay with it, it really does look like it’s going to be something special. Fingers crossed anyway 😅 I’m very intrigued as to what the cut off point story wise will be for the end of this game though!

Keep up the amazing work as always!

  4. Initially I figured part 2 will go as far as Temple of Ancients. But if it's 2 discs, it might be the whole game with whatever twists and changes they incorporate. Crazy nostalgia right now.

  5. Fantastic video. I'm really interested to see how the story plays out. I think that the developers are being very clever about how they are implementing the new story beats so that we will end up in a very similar position to the original by the end of the game. Can't wait for rebirth!

  6. No one talks about the fact that Freedom vs Fate (Free will vs Determinism) has one variable: the genetic predisposition of those with Jenova cells. After defeating the Whispers the rest of the party has free will but cloud does not (to a large extent). Sephiroth knows that Cloud will be predisposed to joining the reunion in any timeline. This is the reason the hooded figure in the trailer looks like cloud (alt timeline), this is the reason Cloud gives Sephiroth the Black Materia (original timeline), and the reason Sephiroth wanted the Whispers gone. Sephiroth will use both timelines to gain the power he needs to be Reborn. The price of freedom sure is steep

  7. Thanks for this 👍. Note that on the scene at the beginning they say it was a tornado that destroyed a couple of sectors. And that tornado is showed very quickly in the first frames of the trailer, it is the one from the final battle with the fate big monster, in that battle we destroyed a big part of Midgard in the timeline we were at the moment, that looks like to be Zack’s. Then the battle destruction directly caused the possible death of the characters we see taken at the beginning.

  8. I still think that Sephiroth saying he killed "her" was referring to him killing Aerith in the original timeline and they had the VO over Tifa as a red herring but youre probably right.

  9. I've been saying for ever now it is FF7-2 and not a remake. We'll never actually get that. I'm excited for the new story but it is a sequel and I am still a bit bitter it got marketed as something it wasn't or that people still try to argue it was a remake 🤦‍♂️

Either way, like I said, I'm excited for a new story. Tine will tell where they take it.

  10. God, aoife is such a LEGEND, when it comes to FF7 content, i love it 🙌🏻💪🏻 your passion for the game is so noticeable and tangible, it's just pure fun and lovely to experience 🙌🏻🙌🏻
It's just so great to see someone making videos about this, who doesn't just have the pure knowledge of all the intricacies and small little details, subtle hints, plotpoints, including easter eggs of the story and what certain things mean…but also shares the same passion

  11. I'm so glad to hear you call Zack "essential" to the OG game because so many fans of the 1997 version think him inconsequential and seem to forget his existence. A lot of people also seem to forget that Cloud's personality during the OG game was even a front since he was copying a lot of Zack's mannerisms before he remembers during the Lifestream journey he takes with Tifa. Love Zack the puppy and I'm looking forward to his greater inclusion in the remake series.

My theory for Zack's inclusion is that this "alternate timeline" is really his initial time in the Lifestream after he dies, him coming to terms with his death, and realizing how important his death was in the greater scheme of things (and yes this is not in tandem with Crisis Core's ending, but I don't know if CC will stay cannon with the remakes). We'll follow him there until he's reunited with Aerith when her time comes. We know that they're together in the Lifestream thanks to Advent Children, and I think this will create a greater emotional moment for them being reunited in death. And will help fans deal with Aerith's death more easily, since we know that she won't be alone and will have someone good who loves her to keep her company as she looks after the planet.

For how we'll start off the game (in regards to equipment and materia): In Horizon Forbidden West, there is a throwaway line from Aloy where she tells Varl she came into trouble and lost her gear to explain starting from scratch. I can see something similar with this game where we start off the first chapter super OP but the gang gets attacked and robbed, or they need to sell their equipment for some plot reason, or Yuffie steals their materia before she joins the party like in the OG.

I'm also SO curious to see how far this game goes regards to the original cannon. I feel like if this is to be a 3 part series (and not 4 or 5) that it will need to end with Aerith's death (and yes, I do not believe for a second she will live this time around, her death is essential to the planet's survival. She may die under different circumstances but she still is going to die IMO. If she can see the future like some have hypothesized, she may even sacrifice herself for the good of the planet). There is just too much plot after her death to fit in under one game.

Finally, everyone is excited for Vincent to join the party, but personally, I can't wait to see a high-def and fully voiced Cid Highwind. I feel like he is going to be one of the most entertaining characters with his gruff exterior and potty mouth. I hope he at least pops up in Rebirth even if he doesn't become a party member until game 3.

  12. I think this will end at North Crater, just after the Whirlwind Maze – Sephiroth is given the Black Materia, the Weapons wake up, Cloud's mind breaks and he falls into the Lifestream, the party is captured by Shinra, and … Aerith dies here, where she was planned to die during the original game (only it got moved earlier to the Ancients City to place it at the end of Disc 1).

People will think Aerith has survived when they pass the Ancient City, only to get that same gut punch at the end of the game.

Alternatively Aerith doesn't die & instead either crosses into Zacks timeline (or Zack saves her & crosses into the main timeline to do so).

Leaving the third game (Rebuild) to be about gathering the knowledge of the planet (from visiting Materia caves & gathering Huge Materia – Wutai & visiting the Avalanche HQ will be part of this), learning & understanding how the different timelines interact (Bugenhangen will help with this – as will fixing Cloud's mind – as it will be linked to the Lifestream holding knowledge of both the past and the future & fixing Cloud means entering the Lifestream), trying to work out how to finally & definitively defeat Sephiroth (& cleanse him & Jenova from the Lifestream like in Advent Children), and fighting the different Weapons (none of the Weapon fights will be optional this time) – you might also bring Deepground in as the Shinra "final solution" for stopping Sephiroth (but they'll quickly run out of control, but this will head off any Dirge of Cerberus Remake possibility by using & defeating them here).

  13. No, the game was never announced for Winter 2023.
It was announced for "Next Winter", which would mean somewhere between December 2023 to March 2024.

So calling it a delay, by ruling out December, is simply a mistake.

If the game however release after March 2024, I'd agree it's a delay.

  14. Great video! So excited to continue the story. My understanding is they haven’t changed the release window at all. They’ve always said Winter which goes until February 2024, so they haven’t delayed. Just letting us know it won’t be at the beginning of winter.

  15. 9:05 Not necessarily true. The Japanese dialog: あれはセフィロスのいってみれば分身。追えはセフィロス本人にたどり着く。
Rufus isn't naming them directly. He's talking about what they are and their relationship to Sephiroth. "You could say that they're alter-ego remnants of Sephiroth. Chasing after them will lead us straight to the man himself."
The English localization is being a little more poetic and actually clarifies that he's talking about what Hojo believes to be true about the Copies. In neither instance is he actually naming them.

  16. I won’t be surprised if they delay the release to April 2024 just like the delay to April 2020 happened. As long as it’s a great game like the remake, I don’t mind waiting a little bit longer. Plus ff xvi needs some time to get their shine.

  17. I think Remake and Rebirth are years of planning in the making to execute the most elaborate, cruel and heartbreaking twist in video game history, in order to address one of the most heartbreaking moments in gaming history and the defining moment in Final Fantasy history…..

Everything about these games are designed to make you the player believe there is someway, some chance, that you can save her….

But somethings, some specific things just cant be changed no matter what.

  18. I know the trailer frames that “you know that I killed her, so who is she” line as being about Tifa, but it’s not like trailers never lie about stuff to hide plot elements. So I wonder if the line is actually about Aerith which would mean it’s not about and injury Sephiroth dealt in the past that looked worse than it actually was but an actual death that hasn’t happened yet. Probably it’s just about Tifa, but what is the pre-release window for if not letting improbable (but not impossible) speculation get wildly out of hand?
